Looking for advice please.

We just engaged with a person (we shall not name them as we feel this is a communication matter when we asked for face pics.

These were sent and there was no attraction for us so we decided not to take the chat further and sent a polite message saying sorry but connection not there for us.

The person then said they 'expected' our pics in return, we hadn't said you send us yours and we'll send you ours.

We politely declined as the attraction wasn't there which led to a not so nice couple of replies, then blocked.

We have sent face pics previously and not received any in return if the attraction/connection not there - no issues for us.

Our question - what's your thoughts on face photo protocols (bearing in mind we never offers to send ours).

We would never wish to offend anyone on here but unfortunately on this occasion it has.

I would agree with what you did to be the right thing. I can see why they might not like it but what's the point if the attraction not there.

For me you are ok as you sent a message saying no thanks!

It’s always the risk that is taken in you send a face pic first, as a male that’s normally me! Lost count of the number of times we have got to sending pics and after I have sent you get ghosted without so much as a no thanks!

There is no real protocol just honesty.

If you've asked for a photo without saying 'swaps' then this is entirely appropriate in our view.

If you're not comfortable with this then don't show first.

We all do this differently.

Same as you i have it on my profile you owe nobody nothing especially if its a single guy, whats the point me sending my face for them to moan n huff they cant win me around cos my standards are all of a sudden too high cos i wasnt attracted to them just leads to abuse men need to learn!

I’ve seen some easy going men on here. We’re not all pushy, or sulky when rejected.

I’m quite used to rejection even when I thought things were going well. Just move along and read some of the other 800 messages in my inbox (not)

We had a funny one, sent pics then got blocked. If we are not for you its fine but a polite no thanks would be good but then turns out a couple friend had arranged to meet the block couple and invited us along, they pretended they didn't know us when we met

It's such a minefield, we know we're not everyones cup of tea, I'm a bigger woman so I know that can put some people off, but this is why we exchange pics or arrange a social meet first... Unless we're at CJs, then all bets are off lol

I think that the individual was being rude and childish.

Any guy who thinks a couple aren’t going to eventually ask for a pic and potentially get told there’s no attraction is deluded.

It’s the way things work and I wouldn’t worry too much about it, you’re most definitely not going to meet them now. A bullet dodged I’d say.

We always send a face pic (on auto delete after read) if we are sending the first message. It's not sent with any conditions attached, just a common courtesy so people know they're talking to. If we don't get one back its quite apparent we wont be meeting, so its not big issue.

Typical of the arrogance on here. 'we reserve the right to not send you face pics despite asking for yours first' that's why I don't send face pictures. I request to be made friends to view other pictures and select certain ones for then to see by making them friends only. If there's none of them I instantly unfriend. It's a slightly better way. I never send face pictures first now because if this sort of arrogance. It's not polite at all. Id actually far rather have a blind date .. it adds a bit of mystery, you get to actually meet someone, it's actually a refreshing way to go about life rather than be so instantly superficial. So many people in here profess to be 'sapiosexual' and all that pish yet insist they deserve to see your full identity then walk away...

My thoughts are you send them if you are (especially single fellas) the first to initiate contact. Introducing yourself properly.

You don’t have to reply with anything especially if the attraction is not there.

You go back and forth a bit, playfully and introduce the idea of a face pic and think; no thanks. Banter

Yep agree with this. Use the auto delete and if no reply or not even read after a wee while I delete them

I have a policy that if you want a face picture you send one first. I don't think there's any right or wrong way, but thats what I always do.

Don't think u have done anything wrong and ar least u msgd back to say they weren't your type. Plenty would just ignore or even block straight away. The profiles that do my head in are the ones that have no face pics, but demand a face pic on first contact or there will be no response sent back ... and then they send no response anyway. Just cries out hypocrisy! But usually these profiles are sad old men wanking and pretending to be women or couples.

So we had been talking to a couple last night, I asked if they could send photos and they did but I was offline until just now. Went to reply to them as they deleted the photos and I hadn't seen them yet and they've blocked us!
