So was wondering peoples take on this. Is it ok to use a still image from a video as your profile pic without asking permission from the other person in the video or first?

I don't think it's ever appropriate to use a picture that features another person without first getting their permission (& without them knowing where it is being used).

Same, I would not want anyone using my pics without permission. I bollocked an ex friend for that, his response was 'I've blurred your eyes out!' Nope, get them down or I will.

There's a gent in my pics that is not my partner, he gave permission for me to use them.

Yeah id probably have been ok with it if asked as im not identifiable in it...just more strange that it had been a long time since we had even talked so thought permission should have been sought

Yes always far too often photos or videos are posted with more of the other person showing than the actual profile holder.

Isn’t it illegal to post pics these days without the other person’s consent?

Permission should always be obtained.

That’s a major red flag for us if we look at a single guys profile and there is pics/videos of sexual encounters.

It may be consensual but it could be a breach of trust.

Proper extortion material, not just morally wrong it's against the law unless you have permission signed
