Got a new treadmill delivered on Tuesday, set it up, connected it to swift and Strava, did a 2 minute test run to make sure I'd built it and set it up right.

Not used it since 🤣

I’ve used the treadmills in the gym but I end up with pain around my right hip. It must be the way I run in them as I don’t get it if I run outside.

I can’t do treadmills. I’m fortunate to stay by the canal so got a nice peaceful route. Plus whatever distance I go out I need to come back again. So not tempted to bail.

That makes totally sense.Could be lack of variation, moving belt, altered stride. But still the question why only right side?

Check your shoes, maybe they right ones is worn on one side?

Get an gait analize by a running store.

Running is fantastic, I love the freedom feeling(I drive but totally don't like it).

I used to run for many years but it's a proper sport and you need a proper preparation and SHOES, had many injuries at my ankles, maybe something genetic, so I enjoy walking and power walking at the moment. Bit scared to start again to be honest.

I think I put my right foot down with more force if that make sense.

My shoes were pretty new. To compensate I just use the crosstrainer, but I just use it to warm up a bit.

I have thought about joining a running group for beginners, along the lines of Couch to 5k.

Depends a lot on what you do if not going to specifically train. If say you are already very active walking many miles, cycling lots regularly then you may "get round" It would most likely be a long miserable day though. I would say upto around half marathon distance with some general fitness you can wing it. A marathon is more than just doubling a half though.

Now if you had already done several marathons and you just hadn't trained for last number of months then yes you could reasonably "survive" one.

Haribo or jelly babies. Quite often find that spectators bring tuns of them to hand out to runners passing.

Gels are good but can be hard on the stomach and most are rank. I've heard people say they taste like flavoured spunk, I wouldn't know.

Speaking of running.

Why do so many runners insist on running through narrow bus stops?

I know some roads are busy, but surely having a wee look and going around the stop is better manners than flat out running through?

I desperately miss running; despite never really having the classic skinny runners build I’ve done sub 90m half marathons and 40 m 10ks

Alas a broken leg and subsequent knee issue has me only able to swim and cycle

Maybe next year

I’ve been running for a few years now. Only took it up in my mid 40’s.

Trained for last years GSR and made the classic mistake of overtraining. Came down with Achilles tendinitis 4 weeks out and missed it.

I immediately signed up for this years one but another problem arose with my foot so I’m not out running much now so I’m going to miss this one too.

I find most women who run a real turn on. Sorry, but it's true. It's the leggings showing off the curves/athletic body which really does it for me. The more petite the better.

Every time I look I just think how far inside I could go. Sometimes I wish one would look back and shout 'fancy a shag' and we go at it like rabbits in the bushes.

Never gonna happen though 🤣🤣🤣

(but if you're a lady in or around Paisley I'm happy to be contacted and we can go for a run and chat and see if we click).

Good luck getting back to it. I’m doing the supernova 5k at the weekend.

One of the drawbacks to being in Scotland is outdoor running when it gets dark and wet. Having to drive to Falkirk to go for a run just so I can go somewhere that’s reasonably well lit suitable for intervals

The Edinburgh marathon is reasonably flat. There's the odd little hill, for example, after

you run past Waverley Station, but it's not that bad

"Anyone else running the Forth Road Bridge Supernova tonight

How was it?"

It was really good. Really well organised as well. The first half is a constant steady incline but the once you’re on the way back it’s nicely down hill.

My only issue was people that clearly didn’t listen to the instructions about keeping left to let people over take on the right.

I’d recommend purely for the novelty value of running over the bridge

Depends where you’re based and what distance. Alloa half marathon is coming up in march.

Scurry round the helix is a decent run in April. Cumbernauld 10k in sept and the Stirling 10k. Stirling is one of my favourites.

Running is the easy part of Hyrox for me, doing relay in Glasgow and hoping for a full, either solo or doubles if I can find a partner, later in the year.
