A strange place to look for it in when most let the small head rules the big head and intelligence is a hard currency to find

I don't think I necessarily look for it, as it's so rare, and there is more to a person, but if it is found it can be a major aphrodisiac. Most of the people I value here, that I've met, all have a brain and can use it.

Why do 'smart' people turn you on...

Sexy people turn us on....irrespective of whether they are 'smart' or not..

Stephen Hawkins is smart...David Atenborough is 'smart' but are they hot...

Was Marlyn Munroe 'smart'...

Is David Beckham 'smArt'.....

Intelligence can add to the chemistry. At the very least, someone who is literate enough to express themselves is not a bad thing.

I don't like reading just text speak or when reading noticing all the spelling mistakes.

The individuals you mentioned are all in the extreme.

Marilyn Monroe incidentally was classically trained actress who was well read. Anyone who could perform the classics, from memory, I'd say was smart.

We only meet people we think we are compatible with socially as well as sexually. So I suppose intelligence is important to us.

It may sound bad but when we see profiles or get messages that are full of spelling mistakes etc we just discard them (but we still send a reply).

Message content is important, especially that first message, if it reads like compiling 2 sentences is hard work for you, or generally half-assed it really was a waste of their time and yours reading it.

Along with many posting here, I find intelligence a real turn on. The power of the brain can set the mood with a word, a smile or a gesture. Some lucky people are born with it, and others learn as they go through life...If they're self aware enough to recognise it that's intelligent- and attractive to me!

I need a lie down after thinking about that

Personally, I'd take Brian Cox over David Beckham any day of the week... I find an intelligent man so, so sexy. Someone with passion, drive, ambition and most of all a sharp, witty mind wouldn't find it too difficult to charm me... Of course there must be physical attraction also, but an Adonis who can't stimulate my mind isn't for me.

I'm not wanting to digress away from my own post but some people have mentioned Beckham.

A few points on the guy who kicks a ballon around on a bit of grass:

Can anyone remember what he sounded like when they first heard him speak? He does sound as though he has just swallowed hellium. Can you imagine with the lights off and hearing that voice. Not the most manly asset.

I've female friends who have a strong aversion to tattoos.

He almost doesn't exist anyway as we see him mostly through photos that have been worked on.

Intelligent women do it for me too. Someone who can articulate their needs makes for a much more powerful lover... Lets be clear though, drop dead gorgeous and intelligent are not mutually exclusive...look at me for example

Most definitely

There are different definitions of intelligence however..

Only someone with a certain degree of mental capacity would be capable of fully understanding and appreciating who I am and what I'm looking for.

Someone who didn't challenge me on any level is of no interest whatsoever..

...as a friend, a lover or in any other capacity.

It may seem harsh, and please don't think me arrogant, but interesting people fascinate me. I won't be rude to others, but I wouldn't actively pursue a friendship with them.

Intelligence is a turn on but looks are what you see first.

Give me a handsome smart man with a manly voice, a naughty twinkle in his eyes and good teeth. Not much to ask is it?

"Jeez....

True - but a shag is more than inserting a cock in an appropriate oriface and wiggling it about a bit.

I'm not saying you have to be a brainbox, nor am I looking for the love of my life - (far from it!) but if you don't turn on my mind - you won't turn on my body.

That's just the way I work. Each to their own.

Looks might be what you see first, but sometimes pics are taken at a distance or don't do the person justice or taken years ago. I read profiles assiduously before I contact someone, so someone's text is noted.

I met someone stunning, and who was very tanned as well. They didn't say a single word during our fun. In mail afterwards I asked 'what country are you from'. I assumed from the tan, darker skin and them not saying a word, their English was a problem. They said they were from Parkhead. On other meets there was a glaswegian accent.

I'm not looking for meets 24/7. There are lots of good looking profiles here, but intelligence is much more of a rare quality.

Some intelligence before, during and after meets, is something I value and can be a dealbreaker with future communications or meets.
