This is by far a complaint in fact I like the idea of a deleted message by way of a polite no thank you from a member.

I wish though that habit was encouraged more by the admin. I cannot imagine the volume of messages the better half (well I suspect more like 1/8th) of fab receive and as a male seeking female friends I don’t expect a response unless a member is interested . I wish though that if I send a message and it’s read then the member just quickly delete, I think it would keep inboxes clear.

"Why do you look at your sent messages?"

To see if they have been read or not. That may u know if folk either haven't read ur msg or aren't interested

But surely if someone's interested they will reply so you're just making yourself feel bad needlessly.

Send and forget.

Oh I don’t feel bad, I don’t like the idea of bulk sending messages to members, but at the same time I’ll clear out my inbox and sent messages regularly so before I do like to know if the person is not interested in chatting.

Fab needs a not interested feature. (I know this will never be added).

I hate ignoring messages but if we respond with a polite no we nearly always get subsequent messages with pressure, or occasionally abuse.

totally agree, i take a deleted messages as a no thanks. so i add notes to the account so as to not message again, where as a read message may mean they want to come back to it, and may get lost in the 100s of messages they receive

with the amount of messages ladies receive on here, it’s quite possible the message has just been missed

I think there should be a note added to the pop up they get when messaging a 2nd time after no response which asks if they really want to message again (which I think could be much improved tbh - frankly I’d set it up so you CAN’T message a 2nd time if you’ve not had a reply) “FAB ETIQUETTE = NO REPLY MEANS NOT INTERESTED - don’t be a pest!”

i like that idea

thou i disagree about no reply means not interested

iv messaged ladies, and they’ve not read them, so a week or so later i drop another bump, and quite often have got chatting etc

I dont mind a repeat message as long as it's not constant.

May not be looking to meet at the time of the first message.

So yeah timing plays a part too.

There is... if you've messaged someone and they haven't replied, it states it at the top of the page but doesn't actually stop you from sending it

See, this is what I've wondered. Or how frequently a message that would be well received just gets buried in an avalanche of DMs.

But someone can read the message then mark it as unread - whether that’s because they want to highlight it to reply at a future time like for a couple both may want to read it before replying or maybe they just can’t be bothered replying right now but might want to. Or maybe they want to delete it without letting the sender know they’ve read it?
