Derby and Edinburgh

Heyy!

So we’ll be in Edinburgh for a few nights in a couple of weeks..

Looking for somewhere to go, potentially clubs/cinema or even organise a social.. happy to travel an hour or so..

We’ve seen a few comments that there’s a club in Edinburgh but it’s not allowed to be named, obviously we’ve googled so know about it, but just curious as to why it’s Voldemort on here? 😂

AD has been good to me in my experiences there. It’s a fun night out, good people, lots of fun.

But like anything in life YMMV I guess it’s just what you make of it at the time.

I believe there have been issues over the ‘legality’ of the club as regards licensing with the council. I’ve been and it’s ok, not as good as say many of the North West of England clubs but we’re not spoilt for choice up here.

That pretty much sums it up. It's a great club though in our opinion, we go regularly. Theme nights are always very busy and worth going to.

CJs in Glasgow or Bacchus in Dundee. Both over an hour away. I’m giving AD another try on Sat night. I’ll do you a mini review.

So, I’ve been to a fair few club nights over the years. AD is a bit of an odd one. It’s got decent private rooms and they are all clean. Rooms have condoms. The folk who run it change the bedding after use, first I’ve seen that in a club so good there.

Reception leads into a locker room and you get a key for your locker.

However, the feel of the club, and this is of course subjective, is a bit cold and unsexy. Much of that is the building and the difficulty in breaking up larger rooms, but more needs to be done with mood lighting and wee breakout areas, too much open space and too harshly lit. The ‘kink’ stuff isn’t really my thing, and the ‘classroom’ they have setup I find a bit creepy, but others of course enjoy that.

There’s a largish social area with the ‘bar’ and music videos playing. Plenty seating and a pool table.

It’s not a dress down club. Now, I understand why, no sauna, jacuzzi etc. but I much prefer dress down clubs. Just less awkward. Other clubs are dress down on arrival, or clothes in social areas, dress down for play areas.

On a more serious note, both times I’ve been I’ve seen poor behaviour from single guys attending and ladies having to complain, and one couple who were playing on the open bed actually left the club due to a guy deciding it was fine to get on the bed close up beside them. That’s shitty behaviour and needs to be better managed.

There’s a largish cinema room with sofas and a bed. The first night I was there a guy sat in it wanking most of the night. Very erotic……

Both nights I went on a Saturday. Not overly busy and not much open playing going on. Met a nice local lass last Sat who wanted to play openly but was put off by a couple of guys there so we ended up in a private room.

Plenty parking round about and it’s an easy to get to in car.

I’d still cautiously recommend it, but I’m not inclined to rush back again. Saying that I probably will as it’s the only one in Edinburgh! I’d like it to do well but it needs a lot of improvement.

I haven’t, but CJs seems to be popular. Bacchus is I believe quite a small club. They do have a daytime mixed sauna on a Tuesday, 10-6pm but yes, not much during weekdays for any of the Scottish clubs. I was going to give Bacchus a go at some point.

I just visited AD on Friday night for the couples/single female night. I find the place clean, plenty staff on hand if needed, and I like there's a good few private rooms as we weren't expecting to be joined by 3 other couples so we had to move to a bigger room! But I found it to be very chilled. My first visit last month I had a guy follow me and sit beside me (I was with my partner and I told him I wasn't interested). When he touched me I said no and next thing I saw was two members of staff removing him. So they are quick and they spoke to me afterwards and said if anyone does that come speak to them and they'll deal with it. That's reassuring for me. Could do with putting some 80's/90's tunes on though!

Ecclesia_Glasgow seems to get missed out every time people talk about clubs in Scotland - I’ve had my best nights out there

After dark, we find is a fantastic club.

It isn’t to everyone’s taste of course. And the lighting could help be a little less harsh. But the staff are excellent and we loved the “creepy” classroom.

We’ve had many a great night in there. Look forward to many more.
