Has anyone had any dealings with car insurance companies.

I just got back from 3 weeks off shore to find my car had been hit in my street I phoned police and insurance but because I can't say when it happened they are unlikely to help.

Nightmare.

My car was recently hit by someone driving a hire van. Luckily it was caught on camera so it was open and close. Also, luckily my car tells me when and where it’s been in an accident.

Does anyone around have cameras that you can check? You don’t really have many options other than sieved through it (if they’re kind enough to send you over the last few weeks).

Failing that, depending on the cost, you might be better paying for it rather than claiming the insurance.

I have asked neighbours but no cctv footage.

It needs whole new bumper new lights and couple dents and deep scratches on paint work.

Not sure how much it's going to cost.

If you have fully comp it doesn’t matter when, where, who or why. Report it to the police, get a crime reference number, claim your insurance. It should be no more difficult than that.

Do you have no claims protection? Sounds like you’ll need to claim. Sounds pricey

Bad luck mate.

It happened to me as well few years ago.

If you don't have cctv or any witnesses you have only two options: fix it at your own cost or claim on your insurance which will affect your future insurance price.

Sorry about that

The police do not want to know and will not give a crime number as you got no details

and the insurance will not do anything without a crime number so it is up to you to sort.

Had a mate his car on road cctv did not show number of van that hit his so he had to sort himself

If you are fully comp and lets assume you are out in country and drive off the road hitting a fence etc. you would claim your insurance without needing a crime number.

Only things to consider is repair cost verses your excess and if your no claims are protected or not
