We are heading to Oban next weekend anyone any ideas of decent places to visit or to do in or around the area? Doesn’t have to be anything sexy lol!

Hop on the small boat over to kerrera, great just to have a walk around for a bit.

Allan’s boat trips. Great little hour long trip out around kerrera and seal spotting

Walk up and around McCain’s tower if it’s nice the views are great.

Bite to eat or drink on the balcony of the view restaurant and watch the ferries come in and out.

At the far end of town you have Dunollie castle and ganavan beach

I’m sure the distillery does tours but we haven’t done that so can’t comment

A few miles out of town you have dunstafnage castle which is nice for a visit and nice walks too.

We love Oban it’s a lovely place, hope the weather is good for you

Covered most of the good ones.

I’m going up to Oban on Tuesday for a week or so.

If you go about 20 minutes out of Oban there’s Seil and Easdale Island. You can do sea safari tours, there a couple of hills to walk, small village pubs and on the way there the only bridge over the Atlantic. Just after the bridge is a lovely pub that has decent food. I used to live out that way.

As well as McCaigs Tower, at the other side of the bay there is a lesser known view point up Pulpit Rock.

Seil island is great nice to say you’ve been over the only bridge over the Atlantic 😂, they have a scarecrow festival in July which is great to see all the effort that goes into the displays. Easdale is lovely too would love to go over in September for the world stone skimming championships but we’ve always missed the opportunity

Helensburgh

All the ones we know of ul there have been said apart from there's a lovely horse yard that you can go a treck over the hills on horseback which is lovely on a good day if you are going over the weekend the Friday would be better that Saturday or Sunday as you will avoid the busy time with kids there haha

If you like seafood, fish hut next to the terminal is great, but not a lot of space if you want to sit down, waterfront fishouse is good, EE-Esk is fantastic, and great location, but bit pricier!

Ha ha, that's a bit harsh, very similar to most of the small west coast towns.
