So it's come to my attention that there's a few single women who have a mythical boyfriend as a couples profile, I understand that it might be a way of conveniently filtering or bailing on a meeting using a mythical boyfriend emergency or late from work as an excuse.

Is this a common practice? It's hard enough without this, starting to wonder about this place.

You will probably find there are a lot of guys posing as a couple in the hopes of a more likely response and also posing as a woman (weirdly), there is a whole lot of fakery on here, unfortunately verification is the only way to know and it’s a catch 22, can’t get verified if you can meet, can’t meet if not verified. Don’t assume a verified couples real mate unless it’s a good few verifications I think a few start off as couples then the female pulls out but the male continues with the profile
