"I had my first appointment last Thursday and I thought I’d struggle to get a suitable time but I was the same had lots of options to choose from " It’s great and also easy enough to order online if you don’t want to go in but if you’re big enough to be playing you’re defo big enough to be responsible, always better to be pro active than reactive ![]()

"A common theme I keep hearing is folk saying they can’t get appointments Logged on today got an appointment for Thursday hundreds of available appointments With the massive rise in oral gonorrhea in the central belt and folk not even following the proper protocols for abstaining for six weeks or even returning for their follow up checks it’s pretty concerning I do mine every 8 weeks, and considering I’ve not even had a shag since before Christmas the reality is I don’t even need it but I’m still doing it religiously for now What’s your excuse " People have no excuses these days. Post Covid STI’s saw a spike that hasn’t come down. People seem over confident that they haven’t got an STI because they don’t think they need to get tested. This has lead to the rise of STI’s. Gonorrhoea in particular is on the rise, and unfortunately between misinformation, (and to be frank) stupidity and negligence, it’s getting hard to combat. Sticking to the here and now, it’s particularly rife in the Edinburgh area right now, with the highest positive results coming in via Bathgate and Livingston areas. There is a wide range of appointment centres available to test. The quietest test areas are the satellite outpost clinics. So don’t bother with city centre, focus on out of town if you want a quicker appointment time. But bear in mind, these centres only operate on specific days. People need to know that it’s very easily spread, it takes a lot less saliva or other fluids, to catch. And unfortunately scientists haven’t done new data in a long time. This is because the original data was focused on what’s known as the MSM community as part of a campaign to negatively stigma the gay male community. So in short, if someone has it, it doesn’t matter if it’s their throat, or their cock, it’s not less risky depending on where it is. It’s still a health risk!

"It's not difficult to get tested so don't understand that one. I get mine routinely. Not sure where you are getting to abstain for 6weeks though. It's 6 days after treatment as long as your partners are treated also " Symptoms take up to two weeks after contact so advice is two weeks testing treatment and get it checked again as a lot of the strains are resistant and that comes from my Friend who works for Sandyford and the advice is online for anyone to check, she says most folk aren’t turning up for their repeat test and a lot of cases are being picked up at the GP as most folk don’t actively get check ups and go to the docs thinking it’s tonsillitis

"I like to be tested regularly, however Ayrshire clinic seems to hate giving out routine appointments and I’ve spent more time arguing with them over the phone to give me an appointment! Occasionally get someone decent that will book me in but I end up having to pretend I’m a contact of someone that’s tested positive! It’s shocking!! I’m not in an area where I can get free tests delivered to me either! It’s a shambles of system down here " Yeah I’m inverclyde so we don’t get the tests delivered it’s in person appointments, I just go online use the national booking system I put 30mile radius in cause I drive so easy to get anywhere

" What's the source for high positive results in Edinburgh, Bathgate and Livingston please? I've had a Google and can't find anything. " The clinics when you go to get tested tell you. I went for my regular check last month at Sandyford and the nurse asked about recent encounters especially in Edinburgh/West Lothian as there’s been a recent outbreak in those areas they’re trying to contain.

"Hold on, Scotland doesn't have testing from home scheme? Isn't this it? nashonlinebooking[.]com/onlinebookingsystem/en/ssk#" Yes and no, each region has its own way of delivering the service. NHS Lothian online only issue certain number per day for postal delivery if you are symptomless. Can take days of trying at 9am to get the “run out for today, try tomorrow” message. I believe they also have it set up that you can only get a postal test every 3 months if symptomless too.

"I've often thought about the clubs seeing if they can put a clinic on and how successful that could be . I know of English clubs that do it !" A lot of the English clubs do it and most gay clubs do it regularly I think as well for folk already attending clubs it’s not like they are worried about being spotted going there as opposed to the Sandyford etc But what’s more scary is the folk not attending the follow up appointment and assuming the treatments are working when they clearly say you need a repeat tear and all the info online says the same because of resistance to treatment Part of me feels like we should have a passport like sex workers to prove our last two results before we should play, it’s getting harder to trust folk now after hearing the statistics for Scotland when compared to England were a tiny community

"I get tested regularly and also use protection . But that's not 100% either ! I find it extremely difficult to get an "in-clinic" test at a sexual health clinic and have actually phoned my doctors for tests more recently! Theyre reluctant but they do it ! The health clinics are more than happy to send out an at home test kit though .... If you phone on a Monday 👀🙄" I got a clinic appointment pretty quickly

"People can still have STI’s without symptoms and go around spreading it about! Responsible adults need to get tested regularly and not shag different people every weekend as there would be no time to test/see if any symptoms develop! Cream pie lovers and gangbangers - great way to get an assortment of STI’s. No idea why so many people (for example) say they use condoms then let a guy cum in their mouth? Just thick! STI’s are spread just as easily through oral sex." It's not just as easily. In fact it's a lot harder for some, though not all. Some spread just as easy through oral, but your facts are wrong.

Oral is increased by cuts, sores and bleeding gums, but without those is significantly lower than the other 2
