Is it acceptable to receive and read messages without deleting or even blocking the sender if not interested and no intention of replying?

Yes as just because you have received a message doesn’t mean it guarantees a reply.

Don’t get me wrong, of course it’s good manners to reply, even if a no thanks but it shouldn’t be expected.

There is a lot of decent people on this site and the time just isn’t there to reply to everyone especially if a profile gets lots of messages.

Also it can be the nicest message from the greatest of person but if the mood or timing is wrong that can come into effect also.

I think the key is expect nothing back and don’t take it personal a no reply can be for multiple of reasons that’s not even anything to do with the sender

"Yes, nobody on here is owed anything."

Absolutely get that. Would it not help your inbox though?

I’ll get a “thanks but no thanks” I have no issues and will delete and block.

Is that harsh ?

Maybe we are too naive but we always respond to all “messages”!

For clarity

The one line vulgar comments and “hey”’s are just deleted on site but anything that has taken 60s+ to type deserves the same in respect as far as we are concerned… (for now 😅😈)

If we dont want messages we turn them off, the setting is right there 🤷‍♂️. I hate the idea of ignoring genuine messages if you are open to receiving them. We answer the way we want to be answered… even if that means “no thank you”

People with deal with their inboxes as they choose. Accept what you can't control and focus on what you can

Inboxes can be overwhelming especially if just posted a new picture or status update. Let’s all keep it kind and considerate. With all the will in the world no one has time to reply to every message received. That being said there is no need for vulgar and hateful messages once “ignored” or rejected.

No different to getting the old school

“Knock Back” when I was younger lol one of those things but upto yourself a no thanks is just a way of cutting it off quickly. Most are grown up enough to not dwell on it and move on lol You can’t be everyone’s type
