The most important thing about Socials

Jump to newest

Hi folks just thought that this needs mentioning. This is mainly for anyone thinking about attending their first social!!!

I organised my first social last friday which was pretty good I think!!Great crowd and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves so thanks to everyone who attended!!

It was a great night but there was a serious breech of security!!!!We had a new member who attanded but brought along a non fab member to the social.I though I had dealt with it....but obviously not well enough!!So I'm just bringing this to your attention....it's a very serious matter!!When dealing with peoples privacy here we have to make sure that these very well established rules are adhered to!!What kind of state would we all be in if there was no respect for people's privacy?Paramout in my book ....and obvious too!!!How can we safely interact with one another, socialise, chat meet...if there's no honesty,respect,integrity...please,please remember respect for peoples' privacy is a small thing to ask but a massive thing to give!!

Respect.

Rab

What about the social organisers ,not telling all who they are ,therefore anyone attending the socials dont get the embarassment of being tarred as the same as them this is a breach also

"What about the social organisers ,not telling all who they are ,therefore anyone attending the socials dont get the embarassment of being tarred as the same as them this is a breach also "

As far as the venue are concerned we're a works night out and as far as I'm aware the venue is non the wiser as to who we are.We would never book the venue as a swinging group!!How insane would that be!!Yes the organisers have to be totally aware of everone's privacy being respected as does anyone attending!!In this case it was someone attending who was at fault!!I'm trying to make sure people are aware of this breech and make sure as far as I can it never happens again!!.....for everyones's sake!!

Well said mate

On a slightly less serious note, might I add another good rule of thumb for those people who have never attended a social before please.

Don't sit in the corner staring into your drink, mingle and chat as everyone knows what it was like on their first social and will welcome you with open arms

Security and hush is never going to be perfect ever ,i got a text from a guy attending fridays and said,i am going to the social at xyz if you want to meet me before i go ,as for organisers not telling the venue what its booked for ,we attended one and the bar staff told us she was know as a swinger ,hence why we have never attended another she has done .mud sticks

No idea, I'm lost. Damn Sat nav!

privacy is very important to everyone and should be not be compromised.

socials should always be for members only and mine always have been.

To the person whos told someone whos not attending where the venue is for fridays social well done you i take it your incapible or reading ?since it was put in block capitals on the emails sent out yesterday not to discuss venue details with members not attending .

Also to even mention it in the forums isnt clever either as now every guy going will be looked at as the one whos done it

You will never get 100% discretion at any social.....specially one held in public places....

As long as those attending know this....

I personally dont care, and if anyone was really that worried, they simply wouldnt go.....

Socials in a public venue can never be 100% secure. You are putting your trust in people you dont know. If people finding out that you were swingers would have a serious effect on your life dont attend these socials. However in this day and age I doubt there are many who would be damaged as much as they might think.

Mud does stick but not just to the person it was thrown at - also to the hand of the people throwing it!

And like others have said there has to be an element of 'if its gonna bring your world crumbling down' if your actions became known then maybe socials and even swinging isn't for you

we are so big of confidentiality and one of the first things we discuss when messages are coming via our inbox, I have to agree if putting urself out there then the risk factor comes with it.

Everyone has family and work commitments so us as a couple hav never put ourselves out there at socials, recently tho the thought has been there to try one out.

part of swinging is the rush u get when u know u are being naughty, wouldnt meet unless discretion is discussed. But socials to be honest scare us, understand its getting to know others but also gonna be they others who cant play by the rules. x

The reason the venue is kept private whether in a pub or private venue is....there are alot of fakes on here and no-one wants a crowd turning up gawking and pointing ..."look at the sad swingers" type of thing ...also over the years there has been a problem with people learning where said gatherings are and informing the venue or the press ...it just cuts down on the possibility of unwanted attention

Hence why it's only open to members of Fab. Bringing a 'friend' along who is not a member of Fab is also a no-no

No idea, I'm lost. Damn Sat nav!

I think this post is swaying from what the Op was trying to bring to peoples attention and that is that social evenings are for MEMBERS ONLY not joe bloggs and his 100 mates who aint members to attend ..ok i exagirated but you know what i mean ..its not fair that a place has been taken up that a fab memeber could quite easily have lost out on because they were told the social was full for a non member to just turn up isnt fair at all ,it also could have caused a problem regarding numbers as everyone knows the number of people attending has to be set at the capacity the venue can hold .

So please people all thats been asked for is discretion for everyone .

If you're a member of fab, got your invite legitimately and don't turn up with a non member then the social protocol is have fun, be polite, respect others and get your own jelly and ice cream

Anyone can organise a social if they want to put the time and effort in so why can't they decide on the guest list

I may think about that - but I'm quite a nervous, shy person. I've been seeing current FWB from Nov (hes been away jan til middle of this month but we agreed he's the only male i'll see for now) and I still puke with nerves every time before he visits... and we saw each other about 10 times before he went away! lol

reading this post really beggers belief !!! lets cut out the bitching ,snide comments and undermining .id assumme most folks will agree they wish to have their private lives kept private and the socials they attend kept private also . common sense dictacts why this has to be done and we are awear from the previous socials being cancelled due to spitefull inderviduals putting the boot in ! not only common sense but respect for other members . now some may be totally open about being swingers, others wish to keep their private lives exactly that PRIVATE and have every right to exspect descreation . its not an an ideal world and theres always those who think they above such things or that this dont applie to them as it suits their own selfish means to do and act and say whay they wish .all the people who put work in to the socials do what they can to keep venue details private to only those going .they put in such hard work organising these nights and really dont deserve people bitching about how its done , who goes and where it is . bottom line if you dont want to go to a social DONT GO! if you dont people going DONT GO! if you have any issues withj anything to do with the social THEN JUST DONT GO LOL ! its not rocket science and no ones twisting your arm to put your name down plenty of others will god and have a bloody great time !

As a cpl who has been to numerous socials we have seen a sharp decline in standards of the socials.

They used to be an event ...everyone chatting and looking forward to it.

Now it seems as of they are a monthly thing and Even 2 in as many weeks?

Also the behaviour of some folk at them is shocking..last 1 we were at a chick was that pissed trying to get behind the bar asking the young barman to look up her skirt...seriously...WTF??

Sorry But that kind of behaviour is embarrassing and shocking...vowed there and then that was our last social..

Which is sad as we used to meet loads of great folk from fab at them

we choose NOT to go and hav stated above why we choose this, its not about others finding out what we do but we shall not be tared as the same as some ,and yes we have that choice ,our post was merely a return on what the OP was stating that turing up with those outwith swinging was not aceptable ,then surely the organisers should host it at a venue that they are not familar with ,forums are open and discussions is what keeps them alive not everyone is going to like what is posted and in all honesty its about what some like and some dont as to what is acceptable and whats not!

i find it sad that people cant respect others and the request for any details of social to be kept private . but hey if anyone is that indecreet not someone id want to meet . but if someone is going to all the effort of organising nights for the benifit of site members they least they should exspect is the details kept to yourself if your going . why on earth should some random turn up because some member has taken it upon themself to decide to bring them and disregard and thought as to how others will feel? others may not have been able to come as spaces full and some self centred indervidual decides to just bring their mate and its fine as mate knows they swing and thats acceptable ??...oh come off it lol ! if they wish to think only of themselves then thats upto them, but it has knock on affect when members wont feel comfortable going .

All I can say is that I'm glad this 'discussion' didn't kick off before my first social event or I'd have probably cancelled!

The reason we decided to go to our first one was because we were sick of organising meets and parties only for people to back out after we'd booked a d paid for a hotel so we reckoned by going to socials we would meet genuine swingers. What we didn't bank on was having such a good laugh whilst we were there.

Everyone we met were friendly and polite and game for a laugh.

In every 'community' there will be people who don't get on, personality clashes I guess!

It's just a shame that they have to be aired in such a way as to put other people off from joining in.

Angus & Findhorn

often a catch 22..

socials good way to get noticed if new

very new members getting details that could expose people

( although not all breaches by new members )

always going to be the way.

not all socials/drink nights are in function rooms, some in a bars.

not going to change anytime soon
