Hello everyone,

I moved to Scotland 8 months ago and before that I was living in a small town in Ireland for 2 and half years. I was really excited to come here because I thought live will be easier because it was dead over in Ireland and I couldn’t find anyone for dates or hookups it was just very old married men.

But since I moved here I am really struggling, I am just looking to make a good friend with benefit who can have good sex with me but also is up to go for walks/dinner or whatever. I haven’t made any single friend in the last 8 months which made me feel really isolated. Is there anything wrong with being friends with black guys in Scotland ? Because a lot of the people I speak to are welling to have sex with me multiple times but when I mention anything thats outside the bed they start making excuses.

I would really love to hear your prospective as I never lived here before this so I don’t know how your minds work or your culture ..

I don't think it's hard to be gay. More the, its hard to find accepting individuals and partners.

Noted your location is Kirkcaldy. I know many people who have left said town and FiFE in general due to the backwater thoughts and actions of individuals and groups in the town and region. Dont know of any lgbt friendly venues in Kirkcaldy.

The majority of the lgbtqia+ communities are based in the bigger cities, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee. So you will always find in hard to meet others in smaller towns.

My advice, look for local groups events socials which are associated activities or hobbies. E.g. the local Bouldering Centre in Loanhead has an lgbt gathering.

There will be local pockets in Fife, but you'll have to work to find them. Others from Fife will be able to give you more info.

In its simplest form move to a bigger city with a lgbt friendly culture.

It's not hard to be gay... You just need to find friends.

I moved here when I was 17 and I've never had any issues.

Maybe making friends will help, I run a dance studio... Pop in and see me for a chat if you like xx

I hope you find fun friends. Steamwieks in Edinburgh and Pipeworks in Gkasgow are pleasure centres. And Fabguys is a great sister site to this.

I have met some great bi gay friends on here with whom to spend quality Nd sexy time.

Enjoy chris

I was actually thinking about moving because as you said the area is really deprived and very isolating. Thank you so much!

It is hard to be gay if you are not in or near a major city in my experience. As nice as it would be to live rural or in a quaint little town somewhere it simply is much harder for us. I thought I could cope with Cambridge but even here is crap, so I am trying to get back to London or Manchester.

We may have to depend on apps and websites more if not near major gay scene locations or if you are non-scene. I only last month discovered a dating app with the best quality gay men I have ever seen, Hinge. Much better than Tinder. Worth a look and good luck

I think there is a big enough gay scene in the west and East Coast outwith the swinging scene. Best to go into the city and get seen.

You will be surprised how many guys aren't from the city. But travel in for nights out.
