So many of us have to face cancer at some point in our lives, I wish more people were open about it.

It's nothing to be ashamed of, and it's not a sign of weakness. If anything, getting through it shows how strong you are.

As someone that's been through it, and lost my life-partner to it, I've always spoke openly about it, but can't believe how Taboo and Immoral some people seem to feel talking about it is.

Cycling is a good sport rare to see the problems football has.

I lost my wife to return of cancer with symptoms showing too late so do anything. In an aggressive form it is a frightening disease and medical professionals are helpless in that situation. But that isn’t every situation as I had a relative diagnosed with prostrate cancer at 75, operated on, and he is still here 12 years later.

I think the problem is the word cancer strikes such a fear into anybody who hears it that you wish to avoid the subject. We need more preventative measures and testing in place. I believe it is no coincidence that my surgery asked me about history of prostate cancer within two week of the King talking about it, and although Sir Chris wanting to keep it private for his family think it coming out can only help. Cancer does not respect age, wealth, social status or anything else. We are all in it together as far as potential to get it is concerned.

It’s always sad to hear about someone being diagnosed with cancer however what is more upsetting is Chris Hoy appears to have been forced to announce his diagnosis as he had hoped to keep it private for the sake of his young family but for whatever reason seems not to have been given that option.

Wish him and his family the strength to get through this

He went to the GP about a pain in his shoulder and the secondary tumours were found in his bones. Prostrate cancer is difficult to catch early and in most cases incurable.

I was upset when I found out on Saturday. Such a young man with a young family as well. I always enjoyed Sir Chris Hoy when he was cycling. A great ambassador for his sport and Scotland.

Make the most of today as tomorrow is never promised.

This is exactly what happened to my dad who died far too young. The cancer spreading to the bones is painful and hard to witness and the reason why I am a big supporter of the Movember charity.
