Hi all,

I suffer from anxiety which has affected my social life a great deal. I have started to try and be more social, and I am getting there. This is 1 reason I joined this site.

I was wondering if anyone has the same problem as me and how you have/are dealing with it. Has this site helped? And do you have any tips

I suffer from severe anxiety although it probs doesn’t come across that way. I just have to really force myself to go to things or meet people. I find one on one meeting harder as there is a lot of pressure and expectations so I prefer the club and social events. The club is so laidback and like a pub with absolutely zero pressure you can just spend a short time sitting and taking it all and leave if that’s what you need to do . Everyone is really lovely.

Anxiety is a nightmare op can fully emphasise congratulations for taking steps and attempting stuff.

As the lovely lady above said the clubs are great you could even start of with a bunch of guided tours as a first step and theres always friendly people out there who will want to help welcome and ease you in.

With me it is more getting to places. As I use public transport it is crowed bus that causes my anxiety to kick in big time, so I end up jumping on and off busses. It can take me double the time or more to get where I'm going. If I have someone with me that I can chat to it is alot easier and my anxiety is a lot less likely to play up

Ah I see well hopefully in time you can meet people and can maybe share a ride in with them.

Would listening to music, a podcast or audiobook on your travels help? Sit with a book, headphones on and zone out? Set a timer for how long the journey should take minus a few minutes, so you don’t miss your stop and can relax.

I used to have difficulty entering venues on my own, still do to a degree, but I now create a different ‘character’ who is fearless, to get my backside in the door.

Totally get this - I’ve had it for years and would say the number one thing that’s helped it has been stopping drinking alcohol.

I used to think no way I could socialise without a drink but it’s so much better now because I know the confidence I have now is really me (albeit not perfect - still have wobbles) and not fake

I get it a little with people but more with falling over massive fear of falling it's horrible I don't let it stop me from doing things though I just do breathing exercises

I have heard that grounding yourself while having an anxiety attack helps massively like counting objects

I suffer from severe anxiety but that’s why I love this site. You can play and be safe. Thank m actually really shy (vixen here) but you wouldn’t think it when I’m on cam. I don’t get what people like about me but slowly I’m beginning to like parts of how I look and I am starting to believe people that say they find me attractive. I’ve still not met anyone for sexy fun yet but I’m building up to it. Thanks for sharing everyone x

I am in the same boat as you and understand OP’s anxiety. Fab helps me a little. It’s mad what our brains do to us. I can look at your profile and think she’s gorgeous but it doesn’t matter if your brain is telling you something different.
