I'm I being really daft here or does the meaning of (bisexual) actually mean.....to like "BOTH"

men & women its not a dig but I'm seeing more & more on profiles showing this preference but as soon as a man goes to make contact that person is blocked because of their sex!? LOL

I'm gay but have got experience in MFMs. Doesn't make me Bi (maybe curious from a different direction tho - lol). My preference are guys, tho I don't block women just for admiring me. I have recently set my filters for age & other qualities as I was getting way too many messages from folk outside what I'm looking for. However on the whole I don't tend to discriminate & block automatically. Ultimately we all have the means to decide what & who we are looking for on the site. It's all about choice & respecting others choices.

Well, it works both ways. Being a straight guy who IS actually straight, i get mail from other 'straight' guys asking if i want to 'experiment with each other'! I think i've blocked about 15 of them so far.

Its laughable really that guys on here feel that they have to lie to get a shag!

I don't think it necessarily means that Str8 folk who are comfortable being with members of their own sex qualifies them as Bi or Gay if they dabble.

Sexuality is a complex minefield & more about "shades" than definitive labels. Other sites use a scale with %ages (tho I don't think that addresses the label thing either but helps you decide if you should mail or not).

Others just have to protect their sexuality due to work, circumstances, privacy etc & that's their right too.

Thankfully, the folk that know us on here accept our sexuality & all that goes with it in their stride. Those that don't accept it I don't really give a second thought to, as they're probably not the type we'd want to be friends with anyway.

I wonder what I should class myself as......

I enjoy sexual activity with both sexes if I am attracted to the particular individuals- however, I could never see myself in a full on relationship with another guy.

If anyone can categorise my sexuality, that would be interesting (although I'm not sure it would actually make any difference to my life).

It could simply be a case that they wish to protect their identity (as stated earlier), or that they are merely experimenting. It doesn't mean they are completely Bi. By its very nature Bisexuals will have "degrees" of attraction to members of both sexes (maybe 90/10 or even 50/50) or that they will fancy everyone on the site. Given the choices of categories available when choosing on Fab Profile it's pretty limited, so perhaps they chose what suited best at the time. Again I keep mine as Gay even tho I have no problem having fun with the right woman if I find them attractive & the feeling is mutual. Doesn't make me a liar. Just means I've opted to stick with the label that best described me at the time.

you can be bi but not actively looking for someone of the same sex on this site, hence why it wouldn't puzzle me to see single guys blocked on a bi guys profile.

i am not looking for single gay or bi men on here, i have a profile on fabguys for that. i can also understand why some guys wouldn't state on their profile about being bi/curious etc as its difficult to pigeonhole yourself. i wouldn't class myself as bisexual as i have no attraction in any way whatsoever towards guys, but i do love playing with cock, so i suppose to some that what definitely make me bi hence why i have ticked this box. i wouldn't know what the correct classification for that would be?

Firstly, I'd like to clarify that if edinguy404 thought I was mis-quoting or taking out of context his views, which he is entirely entitled to, then that was not the case. The "scale" which other users refer to is known as the Kinsey Scale which was a theory in which Alfred Kinsey attempts to describe a person's sexuality at a given time. It uses a scale from 0 being exclusively Heterosexual, to 6 meaning exclusively Homosexual & 7 denoting Asexual.

The scale also notes a variety of other sexualities from Androphilia (used for identifying a person's attraction to sexual qualities without attributing a gender identity to the person. This avoids bias inherent in Western concepts of human sexuality, & avoids confusion and offense when describing people in other cultures,intersex or transgender people.)

Kinsey's theory also further suggests that approximately 10% of people aged 20-35 scored 0 or 6 (exclusively het/gay), with most falling somewhere in their lives between 1-5 (Bi).

I would urge users to read more on the Kinsey Scale if they are interested in learning why Western Cultures contribute to the confusion over sexuality & it's fluid nature.

Fritz Klien takes the theory further by taking into account a time factor over past, present & future meaning that at some point in our lives, under certain factors & circumstances few of us are definitively one thing or the other. (This may account why "Straight" people contact other "Straight" folk on adult sites).

My own observations are that today's generation (possibly since the advent of the Chemical Generation)are infinitely more open & wish to be less constricted by Western values of traditional scales or labels of sexuality. They appear predominantly more open to a fluid nature where sexual gratification is not dependant on gender.

Sometimes (as witnessed on other sites) entirely hetero people have a fascination for masculine/feminine feature & characteristics in guys/girls & feel uninhinbited enough to openly admit these admirations online, yet never act upon them by following them through to having sex with the same gender. Sometimes they do.

I hope this has been informartive to the discussion & that it partially answers the reason why folk who chose an available category on the site might not be entirely one or the other.

As well as the privacy issue (which I touched on earlier) it could also be that they are fake profiles, or trolls who like to wind folk up.

I agree with the guy who pointed out that there is a scale to sexuality. However, I disagree when he says that, if you like to dabble with both sexes, it doesn't necessarily make you bi.

The term is bisexuality, which means partaking and enjoying sex with both sexes. It doesn't mean you have to be attracted to both equally, or even attracted to both at all. As long as even the idea of having sex with both turns you on, that makes you bi.

However, as you say, labels are not important. We are attracted to individuals, not their labels. The individuals we are attracted to, and our sexuality, can shift (or should that be swing?) over time.

I dunno. I know bisexual guys that have full- on, living together relationships with men and women and I know bi girls that have done the same. For them it seems the attraction is to the person, regardless of gender and the sex - well, sex is sex.

The categories are merely indicators & not everyone wants to limit their potential target audience & meets. Some however do & use the filters etc to this effect, which is entirely their choice. Just as it is a Bi woman's choice to filter or block folk she doesn't consider suitable or wish contact with.

To address the OPs original question my advice is see the categories as indicators but not neccassarily set in stone as many folk will remain open minded & fluid if the attraction is there. If they do block you, then don't take it personally as they're not the person for you & look for folk who are suitable matches to your choices. It's a Fab world afterall.

I think you will find many "hetero" disagree with you on that opinion. Many couples and singles- and I'm talking ladies as well as guys - see themselves as being somewhere between hetero and bi for the simple reason they are not 100% hetero 100% of the time since they enjoy same sexplay some of the time but not all of the time.
