The sad reality is an alcoholic is an alcoholic functional or otherwise , there is no happy ending to the addiction unless they get help and they have to want that help for themselves not because someone says so . It's a horrible addiction I know first hand not by myself being one (may I add ) but have seen the destruction it causes and where it ends and its not pretty it's a horrid torture I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy .

I must be missing something but how do you know he is a functioning alcoholic?
