Does anyone in the Stirlingshire area have a good natured male German Shepard they would be willing to mate with my bitch. I am not breeding her for profit. I want her to have one of her pups to keep. I got her five month ago and she has never been sociallised. She is a very unconfident dog and frightens easily the poor wee soul. So I want to breed her so she has a life long friend. Any other pups will go to good homes or to police services. If anyone's interseted please pm me. She's due to break down this summer and I would love for her to get to have her own wee social meet before the dirty deed..lol

I've bred a few pedigree litters not for profit but for the love of my dogs.

If you are serious about mating her she should be hip, elbow & eye tested under the KC schemed to rule out health problems.

My main concern re you breeding her is her temperament & how she will react to puppies. That should be the main reason to breed. As her temperament is nervous etc this may pass on to the puppies & how will she respond to motherhood? some bitches are excellent mothers & other not so good.

I would never bred from a bitch who's temperament was not sound.

Also picking a stud dog should not be about not for "profit breeders" but responsible stud dog owners who health check their dogs insist on the bitch being health tested.

Breeding a litter is hard work, expensive & picking homes for your puppies can be a nightmare. I've never made a profit breeding. Spend 24hrs a day with puppies & bitch for st least 3 weeks. In all my litters every puppy has gone to an excellent forever home & all keep in touch & visit.

I'm just trying to give you some honest advice. It's hard work & can be heartbreaking. I've known bitches & whole litters to die so you have to be prepared

Thanks Jacqui. Great advice. Will spaek to rspca and she's been passed as a fit and healthy dog. She had a litter two seasons ago and her last owners said she was a brilliant mum.

breeding a nervous and timid bitch will only result in a litter of nervous and timid puppies.

Its possibly one of the worst things you could do to your dog.

If she has socialisation issues, you need to get her trained by an expert in the field before you even think about breeding her.

I have friends who are breeders, a couple of them are crufts winners. They have assured me that she has a great temperment and that there should be no issues in breeding her. I work with her daily building her confidence and introducing her to new dogs. She gets better daily. Just a shame her last owners were to busy to train her correctly. If I wasn't sure she would cope I wouldn't put her through the ordeal of mating. Xx.
