Sand blaster for the initial cleanse on the anus and testies followed by intense power washing, hedge trimmers, then some fine grade sand paper to finish and smooth before some Brut aftershave- only because the bottle says "splash it all over!"

I always shave in the shower

I use a good razor and hair conditioner, not shaving gel

I find this helps with the shaving rash

I trim my pubes above my cock with my beard trimmer, and shave my shaft and balls with my Mach 3 razor and shaving foam. I try to use a razor that I've already shaved my face with a few times, as a brand new really sharp one often results in too many cuts.

As someone else has already said, doing it when your balls are a wee bit cold and tight makes it easier as there's less loose skin about.

Finally keep everything moisturized to reduce the bristly feeling when the hair is growing out again.
