I message local woman to me & they are quick to read the message but I never get a response.

Are some people scared of meeting locals or what?

I rarely meet anyone local although I have made an exception.

It saves the awkwardness when bumping into each other at the shops.

Happens All the time, local or otherwise, some folks either want to chat to you or they don't, think its simple as that
