He's pretty rad, very experimental, made some awesome folksy music and cool jazz. I especially love the Rain Dogs album, and Bad As Me.

We had the honour of seeing him play live in Edinburgh a few years ago, for the glitter and doom tour.

One of the best gigs we’ve been to.

For his early piano years I’d suggest The Heart of Saturday Night is a nice introduction and for his later more challenging stuff I’d say Swordfishtrombones and Mule Variations are quite accessible.

I reckon he’s a bit marmite for most people.

Thanks for that.i love Neil young,Leonard Cohen and Dylan so I usually like original voices but I've never found a way in to him .People I know who I think have good musical taste( and some who don't right enough)always say I should listen to him. Thanks again il try that

From Closing Time right through to Bad As Me.

In fact, I'm just going to play "Martha" now.

In fact I am not going to bed NOW, until I have played the whole "Closing Time" album.

The Closing Time lp is a cool half-century old this year. Been listening to it for 45 of those.

I went through a period of listening to him. I find I need to be in the right mood to listen to his stuff although, Table Top Joe will always be a belter!

His section in The Ballad of Buster Scruggs was also brilliant to see.
