Just wondering if anyone planning on going? I’ve not been in a few years for various reasons, would like to go but would prefer company if possible especially if anyone I already know is going?

Would also appreciate any tips for attending, best times to go to which parts etc? Perhaps things best avoided? In order to have the best experience.

I will be out that weekend. The Saturday is the march, but the whole weekend is fabby. There's always a lot girls from the swinging community go out for the party atmosphere

Thanks for the replies, I’ve been before, not done the March before as didn’t have anyone to go with happy to meet up beforehand or after and do the pub/delmonicas thing, used to go dels a lot back in the day only been a couple times recently.

Sadly I am working however my job can often see me out in the community with those whom I work with so I’m hoping I can take a small group along.

The inclusiveness these days have are so important, especially to the younger generations

Any further forward with definite plans for during the day? I’ve a rainbow/pride dress I’ll be wearing but might wear leggings with it too if the weather isn’t great at this rate I might even be wearing flipping boots!

Stalls at the barras? Don’t think I’ll be on the March which historically was in response to stonewall riots I believe? Certainly about the struggles lgbtq+ people faced inc fear for safety.

I’m booked in for cjs and will be heading to pre drinks also.

Happy to meet others in the afternoon/early eve before that though just let me know when and where

It's evolved over the year. Normally been a celebration, but is becoming a bit too political.

But still a fun weekend /month

Kudos to Mardigla for taking over from Glasgow pride for organising a free event (as rightly it should be)

Yes, it might not be the best organised this year, but hopefully year on year to come they will learn and grow

Pride events are usually a great opportunity to learn more, ask questions and become more informed. There are many people who need support as they face their own journeys either privately or openly. Many events are supported by charities and organisations that can offer support for those feeling vulnerable.

The original purpose of the pride march was held to mark the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots and what they achieved. The GLF was the first organised group in the aftermath of the riots and they encouraged lesbians and gay men (Pride was originally Gay Liberation marches before being called Gay pride and now Pride) to fight for gay liberation and gay rights through direct action rather than the more covert support group style of groups like the Mattacbine society before it.

The Stonewall Riots was the first organised direct action protest by the gay community and one that had lasting success. The pride march was started to celebrate that.

Now? Well, everyone knows what it is now.

This is a very good point to a question that often sparks argument.

I personally have no opinion on the Pride marches. I wear a pride watch, not for the gay community but for the aspect of equality, acceptance and non judgement. I honestly couldn’t give a shite if your gay, bi, queer, straight or a floppysexual bipolar parrot identifying as a giraffe on weekends. If you are happy, I am happy and that’s just the way i strive to live.

The march itself sets off at 12, the speeches etc are before that ... So it will be as close to 12 as they can because the roads are closed off on route for a set time ...hope this helps

I’m thinking to add leggings and cardi to dress and take a light coat and brolly? Just to be on safe side.

Was in the town this morning for a couple of hours, there's definitely a buzz about the place,full of beautiful people in amazing outfits,saw one girl with a matching dress and umbrella,made entirely from used train tickets
