was at the self scanners at morrisons last nite and a guy on the till next to me found 20 quid in the machine someone forgot and was honest enough to hand it in,made me think, how many of us would have handed it in or just thought free cash?

what would you have done?

To have 20 quid in the machine lying there the person before would have to have put a 50 pound note in to pay his goods,so I think I would have taken it

No idea, I'm lost. Damn Sat nav!

I'd hand it in ..but do think those scanners need to be changed so that the change is given back at eye level because it's so easy to forget about the notes.

Always hand anything in, I believe in Kharma, and it comes back 10 fold.

a few years ago, i lost my purse the day before a girls weekend away. it had all my holiday cash, my cards, and worst of all, the pin number for one of the cards. i went out and re-traced my journey, asking in all the shops etc if it had been handed in, sadly not. but by the time i got home there was a police lady waiting with my purse, that a lady had found, and walked two miles to the police station with, to hand in. i was so grateful to her, and after a lecture from the police lady about the pin number, i went straight to the florist and bought the lady a huge bunch of flowers, and delivered them personally, with sincere thanks.......honesty is always the best policy,if its not yours, don't keep it.

Handed in for me. Only last week in Glasgow guy in front of me at cash machine walked off for some reason without taking his cash (think he was a but worse for drink) and I had to scamper after him to hand it over - let's just say it wasn't £10 or &20 either xxxx

I would hand it in although saying that a friend of my mums found a bag, handed it in to police and the lady who owned the bag claimed there was money in it and police actually arrested my mums friend even though she just handed it in, its put her off handing things in now which is a shame.

If it was only twenty pounds you can bet the poor soul had only thirty in account and took all the cash be they could afford.

Rubbish. I often take £20 cash back and I've not 'only got £30 in my account'.

to be fair to the police they have a duty to investigate any charge that is made and i am sure it was just protocol

maybe the lady in question wasnt arrested as they dont normally arrest till they have some facts that point to the person being involved perhaps the lady involved was asked to accompany to station for further investigation the police aint all bad (just most) ...........joke

The theory is regarding handing money to the police is that you receive back 10% of what has been handed in once it has been reclaimed

I would have handed it in as I know I've lost money before and isn't nice feeling

And with all the bad in the world there has to good people out there that would do the right thing

Hand in every time as said before what goes around comes around. Plus there is enough badness in this shitty world without adding to it.

Caprona

Supermarkets have a lost property book, when my wallet strayed it was itemised for the polis to collect.

Got the full amount back, always worth asking.
