Anyone else live a childfree life? We see a lot of parents on here but wondering if there's anyone here who have chosen not to have kids and live this lifestyle?

I'm very happy being child-free. My time, space, money, choices, everything, are my own. I don't regret it at all.

When I was in my late teens/early twenties I was told on quite a few occasions after saying that I didn't want kids that I would 'change my mind when I met the right man' Patronising claptrap.

Shogun has two children whom I love dearly, but I have no inclination to produce any of my own and never have.

Not by choice, but it's worked out OK. Not the sort of world that I would want to bring children into these days anyway.

If you leave them alone long enough they will eventually learn to forage and feed themselves.

Yeah it can be hard to be in this lifestyle with having kids.

We’d love to do a spontaneous meet at ours but that’s not going to happen till they have all flew the nest

London - till 25th

I got moaned at a long time ago by a kid free singleton who thought that him "paying for other folks kids" was wrong.

I pointed out that in 20 - 30 years it would be "other folks kids" wiping his drool and arse in the care home...

The silence was deafening.

Child free by circumstances.

Got on birth control to avoid being a baby mamma when I was younger.

Then married and it became a sexless marriage wasted my prime biological clock years

Now I see no point unless I go the sperm donor route and become a single parent by choice Vs by mistake.

Unfortunately never been lucky enough to have biological children, I do have 2 Amazing step kids who I treat as my own.

We stopped the life for a while whilst they were young but came back when they were like 16/17

It's so refreshing to see a mostly positive thread about this, usually people are up on their soapbox bashing those without kids - yes, service half the cocks in your county as long as you create a baby from at least one of them!!

Do halves of the same coin…

If we dont have kids the human race ends. Its that simple lol.

Some people have kids by choice some not so much but get on with life.

I wouldnt brag about being child free because folk with kids can brag about having kids in the same

Ways you miss out on doing things on both sides of the spectrum.

Theres always positive and negatives.

Only thing i would say is some folk get to later years in live and regret it. Not now because your living your “best” life but 80/90s. Some dont. There is an argument for all case.

As for the selfish comment. I ve heard that before and tends to be from folk who are “me focused” sort of person and want the attention on them or maturity etc… it is what it is. CEOs and Director have familys and some done. Celebrates have families and some dont… its all bullshit

As long as the whole human race dont stop producing bairns then live will go on that simple

I think there's always gonna be enough people breeding indiscriminately for the rest of us I do wish there was some way to vet people though, there's hoops to jump through for adoption but not for the good old fashioned way

Zero desire to have children and I’ve never had that maternal instinct - whilst I love being an auntie and spending time with my nephews I also enjoy my life without having the responsibility for another human being. Constantly get ‘you haven’t met the right person’ or ‘you will change your mind’ but I know exactly who I am and what I want - I think it’s a personal choice and people should stick with what makes them happy x

Couldn’t agree more, it’s not often by choice but at the same time many many people just don’t have that paternal Instinct which is perfectly fine.

Everyone is entitled to their own choice

I think it’s more selfish to have children if you don’t want them as you will not care for and support them as well as you should if it’s forced upon you

I love being a mum (not sure I’m that great at it would need to ask my kids!) but now that mine are older and I’m taking my young nieces/nephews out for day trips and holidays I’ve realised I might have preferred this to being a mum as you can have all the fun then hand them back

Up My Own Arse Apparently

Totally respect those who say they have no desire to have kids and it must be a pain in the arse when society more or less expects it. Especially from women.

Becoming a mother was the single best decision of my life. My only regret is that I didn't have more.

Might be controversial and I say this with the utmost love for my kids and I wouldn't be without them. .. but if I had to do it all over. I wouldn't have any.

At 18 and 21 they are financial drains and fun hoovers

Have to agree with you there; initially felt as oldest of my siblings, maybe should have children and it took my mum some convincing that I didn’t want children (it was more her checking I was sure in my mind rather than pressurising for grandchildren) but realised I like my life the way it is and being able to plan stuff without having to factor in childcare responsibilities. I love being an Aunty and I volunteer my time with children but glad to give them back at the end of the day. Millie x

If anyone queries my stance again, I'll refer them to this very moment in time where I struggled to cope with a new flat and helping Mr Fox get about on crutches, on top of work and normal life stuff. People seem to think we act like we've one upped everyone else, but the reality is that I'd be a shocking mother and I acknowledge that

100% the best thing to ever happen to us & wouldn't change having our boy for anything else.

Just makes our social gatherings & fun far better when we get the time away or he's at grandparents X

I am child free and love it. I love children , but it’s great handing them back and not having the responsibility and the hard parts of being a parent. Being an auntie to siblings and friends kids is amazing !

Children bring a lot of joy but they also bring a lot of sorrow. A lot of the stress in other peoples lives has to do with their children and I don’t want the stress or worry. I see amazing parents that have provided a beautiful loving life for their children but are still met with stress and children struggling and can see how tired and drained they all are.

I love the independence and freedom that comes with being child free .

I do sometimes wonder if I will regret it when I’m older and it’s too late. But I would also like to maybe try foster when I’m older . And also , I am single and maybe one day I’ll have a partner and step children x

However , we can live happy and fulfilling lives without children x

Love this post, I've came out of a long term relationship as the other party had changed their mind on having kids. I now find it difficult to even date people as when you say you don't want children it's a red flag for them. Would be great to meet more similar minded people.
