Tentative business idea... feedback?

Hi, I'm thinking about setting up my own business, making bespoke or limited edition playwear. At the moment it's just a glimmer of an idea, so just now I'm doing a bit of initial research into whether it's something that people want. I've made a few of my own pieces over the last couple of years (mainly pvc style), but would probably want to make wrap style dresses (for easy removal etc) as well.

From your own experience, is this something that you think people would be interested in?

People would probably be interested, but it's very difficult for independents to undercut mass market offerings like Shein, Amazon, even LoveHoney etc for clothing. So it's probably less of a case of buyers existing and more a case of finding a way to promote yourself and your offering that will attract customers without selling at a loss.

Thanks, that kind of thing has crossed my mind as well. I wouldn't even consider competing with the big names like that, which is why I was thinking something more bespoke. It's still in the very early idea stage though, so good to get feedback - thanks

I think have a look on Etsy and see if people are selling similar things. Do some market research and see what’s out there.

Do you have any pics of the stuff you have made?

I would be interested in bespoke pvc play wear. I find it tricky buying femme things that fit my male body shape well. There may be market for what you are offering in the tv/cd community

Thanks for that - I'll give that some thought. I suppose it would vary as well, depending on what body parts you want to emphasise etc, but I could definitely look into bridging that gap a bit more

Hi, thanks for that - I'd definitely be interested in picking your brains. I think Etsy would be the best platform but there's a lot to think about, and advice would be very welcome!

With a 30 years successful track record in business, including establishing, running and selling on at a profit, my own businesses, I'm in a position to offer you plenty of useful advice, based on successful experience.

What a pity, then, for whatever reason, you chose to block my profile after what seemed to me to be an amicable time at the Lochgelly Social last week.

Amicable perhaps from your perspective, but uncomfortable from mine. Please refrain from hijacking my post and trying to make me look like a bad person. Everyone is entitled to ignore/block/delete anyone they are not 100% at ease with, so accept that and move on gracefully

Its a good idea and concept. You might have a limited selling market but a good proportion of your market may actually be on fab. You have some good market research from this feed. I dont think you'll make millions from the but could be a good side hussle good luck

London - till 25th

I am interested too.

Particularly in things that are not of the usual "will that be in the black or red? Ma'am" level of choice.

Happy to chat.

Haha got to love a bit of hot pink! I've literally just said to someone that I don't want to assume everyone would want black pvc styles. It could end up being a real mixed bag of tastes

Great idea and definitely interested in a wrap dress. My issue is they’re always too gappy on top as I’m not busty. Can you PM with a price please.

Too many wrap dresses aren’t real wrap ones and are actually attached.

Love seeing Laura being able to properly unveil herself in an actual wrap dress.

Good luck with the business.

Thank you. Do you mean crossover dresses though? They are attached. I make actual wrap ones... they tie at the side on the outside and also a wee tie on the inside. I wanted them for the same reason - much better for unwrapping
