So ex Aberdeen legend Gordon Strachan to be announced new Scotland manager by end of the week. Good choice? Great player for the dons and man U but a shit manager at coventry. At least he is Scottish and passionate and in sure the press will get behind him.....to begin with!

As an Englishman I wish Gordon all the luck in the world as I think Scotland manager is a tougher job than England manager (at least he doesn't have emile heskey hanging around still trying to get a game lol)

Good choice for national team manager, his only problem is the english numpties who are in charge of the SFA. If they dont move on he will still have the age old problems to sort out. Got to start at the bottom and get coaching sorted out.

think youve fallen into the trap of being a typical scot with a chip on there shoulder about the english.would rather have a bunch of english numpties than scottish numpties in charge

One thing I like about Strachan is his honesty. If Scotland play shit he will be the first to say they played shit. At the end of the day hes got the same set of players to choose from, the only thing he can do differently is have something levien hadn't heard of... strikers lol

Great at individual sports (Murray, Hoy, Wells, Montgomerie, Hendry)

OK at minor team games like curling.

I for one don't envy Gordon's task.

The wee man has the passion to get the dressing room up for a game.

What one has to remember here is that we are a diddly team who are not going to qualify for anything in the near future until we sort out the grass roots of our game.

Back in the 70's something like 7 of

The Leeds Utd starting team were Scottish internationals, including Harvey, Bremner, McQueen, Lorimer, Jordan etc.

We don't have that quality of player here anymore. The facilities at Toryglen and around the country are first class, we also have excellent coaches. What we need are kids willing to dump the Xbox etc and get back out there kicking a ball.

Gordon has these facilities to work with its whether he finds a pool of players to work with.

Remember at club football he has access all year rind to his players and he can oversea their development on a weekly basis. As international manager he sees them two or three times a year.

On another note re: Strachan apart from his time at Celtic who are expected to win trophies every season his record with diddly teams is horrendous, what is it 3 teams, 3 relegations Scotland are worse than either Coventry, Sourhampton and Middlesborough.

Personally I am not a gordon strachan fan but i'll get behind him for the sake of scotland....something I couldnt do with the last eejit levein who should never have got near the scotland job ...good luck to him I wish him well in his attemp to turn our fortunes around ..hopefully he'll have as good an impact as smith then mcleish had

Its changes in the I transfer market messed up Scottish game. When I was a kid all the greats were Scots. Just look at Liverpool in their heyday. Gone are days when a kid would sign for his local club and make a name for themselves. As soon as a promising under 13 is spotted he is spirited away to man U academy
