GUM clinic, how often do you get checked out?

No sex is 100% safe sex, condoms can burst/split, unprotected oral, sharing toys without cleaning/condoms etc.

So how often do you have a sexual health MOT?

Recently, a couple would not meet me because i have and sometimes still dabble in the adult industry. They felt the risk of them catching something from me was MUCH higher than meeting another single female/couple. I respect their decision however all play as work is treated with the same if not more protection.

How can you ever trust a person/couple 100% that they are clean?

You can't, simples! I normally go every 6 months. In the past I have been treated for chlamydia. I had symptoms though so knew something was up.

I also got a lovely thing called trich from my ex parter, who was cheating on me. So really, you cannot trust anyone at all. Everything is a calculated risk!

Absolutely Angelic!

I just wonder how many couples/singles think they are safe and no need to get checked out or are some too embarassed?

My ex and i were together and swinging for 3years. Unkown to me, he had sex multiple times with a mass amount of women and got 2 pregnant. I had no ideas and no symptoms but i got checked out and i was disgusted that to find i had two STI. Easy to treat and it was many years ago but i was completely unaware that i had anything.

if anything you would be the safest option as you got to have your health certification up to date to work in that sector i think correct me if im wrong 6 monthly here like dentists but way less painful

I try to go 3 times per year and if I've had a wee accident or foolish moment ill leave it a cpl weeks max then go get checked out my working pattern and the fact i have kids means it can be almost two weeks before I get a day off to get to a clinic bit won't play while I'm waiting and if I start any relationship I always get checked out prior to getting sexually invilved and expect same from my new OH after previous experience I continue to get checked out though this I keep to myself as don't want to appear untrusting or have him think I'm cheating which I never do although I'm fortunate enough I've already hot kids two if my pals are now infertile from not getting chlamydia treated when they were younger its just not worth risk and end of day condoms are price of mind but so long as I love giving and receiving oral they don't mean all that much

Met a couple, known them years, they decided to add a random guy to our meet, he fed us a story about never having had sex in years etc, she got something from him, i ended up having to get checked etc.

Big lesson on what people do versus what they say.

Appreciate the honesty of this thread OP, wish there were more like it.

Surprises me the amount if people who have been on here quite some time and have never been ..I've even had people tell me they only do oral so don't need to get checked ..stop being stupid people Get checked ...Jesus I've even had attached and married guys say they can't go for the simple fact they are how selfish is that ?

I was going every 3 months. Then the woman said since I was careful didnt need to go so often. I just like to know Im ok. peace of mind.

I guess it depends how often you play really ..id say if your meeting someone new every week then every 3 months.

I tend to stick with regular playmates with the odd meet of new people .

I had 3 meets( m m f) last year where the fem's allowed the other bloke to have sex with them without a condom. the use of a condom wasn't even asked for even though they had 'safe sex only' on their profiles. needless to say i DIDNT TOUCH THEM!

I go and get my MOT twice every year and ALWAYS practice safe sex.

And if I thought I had put myself at any risk at all I'd go and get checked out straight away.

I would also refrain from meeting until I was sure all was well.

Three monthly when I was with my bi fb and everything swabbed.

Six monthly since and will continue to go without fail. Just not worth it

I've never been offered mouth or throat swabs always have to ask and they've looked at me like I'm an alien !!!! None of my friends have ever had either tested !!!

Went twice last year, 3 the year before as a lady friend was told by an ex to get checked and she had the sense to tell me but we were both ok. Been really lucky I guess but I need to go again soon even though I've been a born again virgin for a few months lol. But as I've had sex since the last mot, it doesn't hurt to go for another one. I don't get embarrassed - it's their job. Safe sex is only ever 99.9% safe. Accidents happen. It costs nothing to do and is quick and painless bits the least I can do if I'm meeting a lady

I get checked out but the clinic just do four tests as I have no symtoms,,,,i just feel they show test a wee bit more.When I was first tested years ago they took a mouth swab that appears to have stopped.Best of all they seam to have stopped sticking things down the japs eye.

Go a couple of times a year just to reassure myself.

Like some others, I have been surprised at the willingness of some at clubs to play without condoms. Even had a look of disgust when I went to put one on recently as nobody else had bothered.
