Seems fab has huge numbers of people in professional jobs through I’m not sure the connection between that and looks or character.

Why do so many people feel the need to highlight their workplace?

Some folk feel the need to be superior and by saying they are professionals makes them somewhat better than others, for others it’s saying my job is important to me and probably more than my social life so don’t be wasting my time

This is also another reason, a lot of companies nowadays have social media clauses etc about how they expect you to behave whilst working for them and what would be deemed as deviant behaviour

Why do you feel the need to say your parents to a young family??? So that people know you have commitments.

I say I’m busy with my business so people know they I Can’t always reply or always attend a meet to a day/time they expect.

Generally these comments on profiles are to make others aware of your commitments.

I’d say Also to show people that you’re hard working and not on benefits as there are some people who don’t want to meet people on the dole. Like there’s people on here who don’t want to meet smokers and like how there are people who go as far as defining specific races they rule out.

In the end, it’s a mine field on here because everybody has different likes and dislikes and no matter what people put on their profile, there will be people who like it or don’t like it.

Each to their own… just concentrate on mine I do.. don’t care about others.

But my eyes do get hurt by some of the close ups of ladies assholes in pics… why???? lol

A town near you

I'm a "professional" and member of a professional body but come from a working class background as does my wife and we feel comfortable around people from similar backgrounds that said we don't state not interested in toffs or middle class people on our profile! We're open minded lol

For us we mentioned family life to indicate we can’t meet at the drop of a hat, it’s not their for our benifit but not much point as it seems more often that not these so called professionals forget to read about who their contacting which is not really professional in my eyes but like you say each to their own

There are plenty of “professionals” who are idiots.

So don’t be confused that the term means that they are smart.

You will gauge from messages about the person, not from the profile. The profile is just a screen. Messages are a start to see the human, calls are next step then meets are the icing on the cake.

Remember though that most are lying. There is a hell of a lot of messed up people that are in here.

I’d always say chat first, bring up subjects that require thought in an answer, that require some sort of emotion or empathy. The reply will tell you about who’s at the other end.

All the best with your journey through fab

Yip, that’s probably me your speaking about, I’d spent 14 years in fire service through I knew it wasn’t who I was it was just a shitty job I never enjoyed. Not sure today I’m a professional but I am sure I’m the same person and tbh a better version now I’m happier.

Thank you and hope you enjoy your journey here also mr

I tend to find it rather snobby, tbh. To me they're saying they work in an office rather than do manual labour, like there's something wrong with that. So I tend to just ignore those statements.

Is a manual labour position not a professional job?

It could be deemed that your perception is snobby by how you have separated manual work.

Trades are the most professional.

We met a really nice person recently in a club. They casually explained that they are a ‘professional’ so require discretion which is fair enough. We’ve not got a problem with that at all. Anyone whose profession requires them to be a member of a professional body are professionals in our eyes.

I don’t think that’s accurate to be fair. We’ve spoken to and met a very wide range of folk from different backgrounds, ethnicities and professions to be fair.

Just found really big numbers of people stating their professional, pound for pound if you were to walk through a town centre not nearly as many people you pass would be professional but it does seem high numbers on fab for some reason.

But then again, not everything is as it seems on fab, you only need to look at how loosely the term athletic physique is used

Professional simply means you get paid for what you do. If some are using it to try and big up their own heads, then tell them to ram the big heed.

Others use it because they are selling sexual services. That is very common on here.

I know that, but it's how it comes across in that there's a difference between them and someone who works in McDonalds, for example. I don't care what job someone does, it's not the job I'm interested in.

Professionals tend to have jobs that give more stress hence the higher pay, higher stature often need a different kind of outlet and escape from reality

I dunno, I've met many a professional day drinker in my local weatherspoons at doors open on a Tuesday off shift.

It can't be that stressful drinking tennants all day and going out regularly for a vape/puff on their special smelling cigarettes...

Mind you, the real professional day drinkers can do it on any day of the week, it is their profession after all!
