"So I will be out of town in a month or two (Leeds) and would love to make the most of having a hotel room but... I've never did this before! How should I go about arranging people to arrive? I have visions of receptionists asking random strangers why they're queuing for the lift or if they would have to actually ask the staff for access to my floor. Is there a best chain to use for our kind of hijinks? Any help appreciated! " Much easier than you'd think. As long as the lifts don't need a key card or similar then you're fine. Staff are top busy to watch who's passing by all.the time. Other than that, choose a larger (less personal) hotel, and don't invite people up late at night either, as often the main doors require key card entry after a certain time.

"Many chain hotels will require keycard access to rooms via lifts or stairwells. The main problem for us tgirls is if we are dolled up and have to go to reception to collect a guest, depending on confidence levels it might be a step too far, plus seeing a date in male mode isn't to everyone's taste. If you are on the ground floor then you can hand key out window sometimes, but if it's a cheap travelodge type place, you are best getting a room each. I find that works well as you get ready in private. Other than that an Airbnb can work well if it is a self check-in flat. tc Cx " I was about to book a travelodge for next month. I didn't even think about the other person getting in. Looks like it'll be a bigger hotel or airbnb now. Good advice

"Back in 2012/13 I helped arrange accommodation for a Glasgow social through a small hotel my friend worked at just off Maryhill. There were a fair few that stayed there and he had set aside rooms all beside each other purely as it was easier to block book that way. I got a call from him late on the Saturday night (Sunday am) asking me who the hell I had got him to set rooms aside for as some had been running in between rooms in the buff and there had been complaints So funny " There's no need for adults to be behaving like that
