I've stayed in the Stewart Aparthotel on Young Street before.

Good prices for the space you get (and it's right beside The Oxford Bar, which features in Ian Rankin's Rebus books & he sometimes drinks in there. That did make me geek out a little bit the first time I stayed).

SW Scotland

Cheapest you’ll probably find in city center is easy hotel. Be warned though they are very very basic and there’s only stair for access.

Always find Motel 1 are pretty good standard when I'm traveling for work

Not stayed in Edinburgh venues though

Apex hotels in grass market and Waterloo place, lots of travel lodges and primer inns city central all 10/15 min walk
