Really enjoyed the first episode of Mayflies last night and will watch the 2nd later this week.

Quite an emotional drama.

If anything 2 episodes isn't enough and it could have been extended to a few more...

However, if you knew you didn't have long left what would be the top 3 things on your bucket/ to do list?

Watched this Last night, can relate in so many ways. More common now losing people to cancer, and they fight to the end but made the most of the life they had . For me 1, see the sun rise in Ibiza again with my friends and family nothing like it. 2, Have a party tell stories of the hijinks we all got upto growing up. 3, pass on my wisdom of what I think I have of it , to enjoy life don't take it serious don't get stuck in a rut as a great man said once

"Life is a waste of time. Time is a waste of life. Get wasted all the time and you'll have the time of your life."

The "Mayflies" novel packed much more of an emotional trip than its mealy-mouthed TV adaptation. I don't think they could have extended the TV adaptation any further. They lost every single opportunity in the whole Manchester Trip section of the novel by simply relying on loads of shots of teenage lads hugging and laughing.

Perhaps BBC Scotland could have inserted a few more strangely-placed shots of Greenan Castle, moody Doonfoot tidal shots or more wrong profiles of Arran... as for the the ludicrous strategical tossing of Ailsa Craig being viewed from the South. I am surprised they just didn't toss in a sunlit mid-distance view of Buachaille Etive Mòr during the wedding. Opening with the Wigtown scene at the very start of part 1 lost all of the impact it had in its original place in the novel.

"Mayflies" was a lost opportunity for TV drama. Floated up some of the themes and ideas within the marvellous novel but then did NOTHING with them.

Depends on the timescale you’re talking about.

I’d visit all the places I want to see, go to the KitKat club in Berlin, have afternoon tea at the Savoy, see shows that I want to see, see friends. See the Northern Lights. Eat a fabulous steak in a great steakhouse.

I’d meet up with all the guys I want to play with and have lots of fun.

Maybe tell a few folk what I really think.
