Not sure, as a single guy it smacks a bit of a hornet going into a honey bee nest. How the hell could a single guy attend on his own without coming across as a creep or a shark circling the waters?

I'm totally sociable and find it easy to get to know new people but even so......just feels a bit ewwww.

Probably meet a nice girl first and go as a couple!

I agree, there are of course guys who are creepy at clubs but they are minimal, most blokes are perfectly normal, as long as they make an effort to interact!

Were you the woman who was serving behind the bar??

It’s hard to explain but we thought it was just us until we got chatting to another couple on their first time also and found they were feeling exactly the same. We also noticed a few couples enter then leave after 15-20 mins when it obviously wasn’t for them either. It’s hard to point a finger at but the general feeling we got was everyone seemed to know each other and seemed to be sitting in the lounge in their own wee enclosed groups. Almost felt like we were at a party where you didn’t know anyone so we’re just in the corner alone which didn’t help that chairs had been pulled away from other tables so that they could sit in the groups of 10-15 at a table designed for 4 so it ended up loads of empty tables with no chairs so nobody had the option to join us at our table as nowhere to sit so it ends up impossible to meet or mingle with new people. Also the decor feels a bit clinical and not sexy at all, the one in Glasgow has a boudoir feel about it where is Edinburgh you could well be in a hospital waiting room. Definitely felt like something from a western film when we entered you could feel the regulars all having a stare. We’ve only ever been to the one in Glasgow and have encountered times where there was slim pickings as far as play but we still really enjoyed our night and spoke to new people and had a laugh where as there wasn’t this option at all in Edinburgh as wasn’t a friendly vibe at all if you were a newcomer and wasn’t part of the party group

yeh I work behind the bar, sorry to hear that you feel that you weren’t able to mingle with people, unfortunately some nights there is a few people who know each other and they will sit together bit like when you go to the pub, we try to encourage everyone to mingle but it comes down to the individual people. I will certainly pass on your comments re the decor etc as appreciate the feedback, AfterDark isn’t for everyone, sorry to hear that it isn’t for you as we have received so many good reviews . Thanks for trying the club.

We agreed and had the same feelings.

We planned a meeting with a couple of friends otherwise we would have left after 20 mins.

For us the biggest fails are: the social area too bright and even more when someone is playing the pool, lack of more intimate seats(big tables sounds like a farm market)

and the guests, there is no variety, should be something for different tastes.

So, we re aware this is a personal statement, but as customers, we won't go there anymore.

Had 4 pms from people all saying the same since we’ve posted the post. It’s a real shame people don’t feel they can openly speak out. to be honest we almost feel a bit cheated as we based our decision to go to the club on the forum reviews which say it was amazing but seems like a lot of these posts are from people affiliated with the club in some way or another just like yourself, the previous posts from yourself in the forums look like your just another customer who’s had a great time but in actual fact you have a close affair with the club. ( if your mum tells you your a good singer doesn’t mean it’s true). Obviously just our personal opinion but clearly a few others feel the same so we can’t all be wrong

Well guys this something related to the English culture, so people tend to be too nice and that'# great but I. The other hand some good criticism could help to improve.

Maybe change the 2 tables in the middle to big barrels for people to stand around, so you won't get the empty feel in the bar area that much? And people won't pull those chairs away, because there aren't any Or maybe put some bar stools around those.

I quite like the basic, clean look in the playrooms, but might be an idea to cosy up the bar area at least. And have some lighting that'll set the atmosphere, also in the playrooms. Haven't actually made use of the playrooms myself, but in passing have seen some people in there in very bright, totally not sexy lighing.

sorry that you feel that way everyone is entitled to have their opinions and that’s why I said that I appreciate your feedback, when we comment saying we have had a good night it’s because we have had a good night , if you look at the reviews on After 8 and AfterDark you will see that all the reviews are not from people that have anything to do with the club, as I say everyone is entitled to their opinion and I am sorry that the other couples that have pm you feel that they can’t share their opinions. We welcome all feedback whether it’s good or bad so that we can look to improve.

Agreed. The rooms should have also some ventilation due four of us after 10 minutes were left without oxygen. The beds would be great in the middle of the room so people can play from both sides and wouldn't be stack . Also would be great some light trimming. Very cleaned and comfy rooms.

Toilet and showers are great.

We had our second visit to After Dark last night, no affiliation to the club at all. I have to say we love it. We have been to a few clubs now and this one is up there with our favourites. We where probably one of the couples that where perceived to be sitting in a group of friends but in reality apart from 1 couple and 1 single guy the rest of the people we sat with we had only met for the first time last night.

We have been to other clubs and felt very uncomfortable one week and then had a great time on the next visit, I guess maybe you cant fully judge based on 1 visit.

Only thing we would change would be some softer lighting in the play rooms and a fan perhaps lol hot hot hot. Also we'd love to see more equipment and better use of the kink area but it's a great start.

We think After Dark is a fantastic addition to the scene in Scotland and we really hope it continues to thrive along side what is already on offer xxx

The light can be dimmed in each of the rooms the night is what you make it and each week is different from the other ... no week is the same you have mingle and speak to people

Agreed last was more couples than anything , we had a couple sat with us that we never met until last night it's about chatting and getting to know one and other .. if your going stand in the corner and not chat then ofcourse you won't like it .. I don't personally like cjs but I still go .. on another note noticed people had their phones on them.taking pics in the open public rooms thought this was prohibited ?? different if in private rooms .just an observation but I've had great time each week and met loads off different people.. last night after a show in the voyeurs we had a conversation with Mr Big balls and his partner lovely great couple it's just about striking up conversation

We seen people with phones out too and to be fair the staff were fairly quick at telling people to put them away. Definitely not into people being on the phone Willy nilly as you never know what sneaky photos could be taken.

I was there last night with my gf and gotvto say I agree with some of the comments here. Our first visit to afterdark but are club regulars. We left early as to be honest we were bored. It didn't feel like the type of club it is and felt more like a social club you go to for a pint. It is also as said very clinical and no life to the decor though very clean and good space. Staff were nice but wasn't a good night unfortunately. We will in future prob try again as don't want to write it off after only one visit. But will be back to cjs next time for us.

We were there on Friday night which in fairness was a quiet night. We bumped into a couple we knew so obviously going to sit with them and chat however plenty came over and joined in which is the way it should be.

Club isn’t perfect however definitely has potential and I’m sure the owners will take constructive criticism on board but give them time.

We are cjs regulars and that won’t change but definitely good to have options.

It’s great for Scotland to have two clubs.

To expand on this, not only do we agree with points made about decor and lighting, we found it difficult to speak to people last night as no one was mingling. The only movement people made was to the toilet, bar or the smokers area so not really an opportunity to introduce ourselves, otherwise they just sat where they were all night. What we like about CJs is that you're always on the move between the social areas and play areas, plenty of opportunity to strike up conversations with people. It's hard to walk up to a table full of people and try to speak to someone.

We left around 1am because, as G said, we were bored as we just felt there was no excitement or atmosphere. We heard that things picked up after that but who really wants to wait until 1am, we're not there all night.

There was another thing that bothered us last night, and I fully expect to be flamed for saying it, but it is what it is. We found that quite a few of the guests were unsuitable attired in hoodies, trainers, grubby tshirts etc. We make an effort when we go to clubs. We like to look good and the aim of the game is to attract people to you so why would you not look your best self? If people are turning up like they're just nipping to the shop or are dressed like a tramp then it doesn't matter if they're the nicest person on the planet, it's an instant no. If that makes us snobs then we're happy to wear that badge - we think it's important to maintain some standards.

Overall we were very disappointed with last night, however we have been assured by people we were with that it was an anomaly. We will give it another go so we can fully make up our minds, and we are intrigued to hear what the further renovations will entail.

I have been a few times now and found last night hard,

I really think maybe its the social room, I heard a lot of people say its too bright over last couple weeks even if it was rad or no bright cloud ceiling, a pole would be good or something to create an atmosphere

the kink room...

too bright like a classroom

and someone turned the lights off last night and imeditly created a buzz

but once again red or something should be good, an orgy room I suggest should replace the swing room and move the swing to 'scaffolding' area as that just looks empty and unusable. This is only feedback I enjoy the club and met good people but need a hand with the flow x

Iv never been to a club before so have nothing to compare it to.i have been 2times now .1st nite i felt out of place (single woman went on my own)doesnt help i have social anxiety.was a bit overwhelming for me 2 couples came and spoke to me..2nd nite i went with a male friend(think we may have looked like a couple)i do get the comments about people sat in their circles but thats to be expected with social friends. I cant blame my lack of mingling with any 1 exept myself.so going back this saturday with a dif male friend to give it another go.(it is so out of my comfort zone to go out "partying"
