Fwb - realistic or not?

Just wondering to myself how realistic is it to have a genuine fwb? Sounds like it would be an easy enough thing to find but my experience so far has shown, not so much.

How is it for others? Any dos and don’ts?

I had a FWB for a while and it was amazing , but due to things going on in my life i thought it better to cut away from the genuine FWB but remain veey good friends . So i would give it the rhumbs up if u find the right person with the right attitude towards FWB which we both did have

I've had a few fwb over the years and one of them we are still mates 5 years down the line. It works for different reason, we worked because we were actually mates, he doesn't get the benefits now but still there if I need him. I had another fb who I hated, (so he doesn't get the friend title) haha but the sex was amazing, we lasted so long because it purely was sex, no messing about, gotta find what works for you, it can work tho.

Let's be honest FWB starts off as a friend 1st then becomes more. Most folk tend to look for a FB but some of them become FWB.

I had a FWB and a FB. The fwb got feelings attached at the end up and the fb became a good friend after the fucking

I had the pleasure of a FWB for over 14months, was amazing and had soo many good times. Was upset when we ended the relationship on one part but over the moon we worked things out and we are still friends (with benefits sometimes) but now with more respect for each other. Still lots of things planned together in the future and will be lifelong friend no matter what life brings us. Not ready for another FWB just now so just enjoying the NSA Safe Fun when I get the opportunity although still open to the idea of a regular FB.

This is so true, happened to me, laying in bed post fun and she fired the L word. As much as we were good friends, outside the bedroom we didn't have much in common. Needless to say I lost a good friend.

I agree with this, but would add it's easier if there's a decent distance between each. Less likely to want to drop in for a coffee or impose too much on the other's already established/contented time/life.

Probably much easier too if not in the first flush of youth and not looking to 'nest' or make babies?

FwB or FB? Space for either/both depending on what you're looking for. Be honest. Including with yourself?

Agreed, it’s a really tricky thing to find.

I think what can make it difficult is how you define a fwb. The line between it and a fb can be pretty blurry

Definitely not impossible. But yea can be hard to find, as expressed above it’s easy for feelings to get involved. If said feels go both ways then it’s not an issue. But generally 1 falls for the other.

It’s simply human emotion. Can’t control what the heart wants sometimes.

But again, not impossible to find exactly what you want.

Best not to bother with labels, I think. They’re far too slippery.

Personally I’m most like one of those friends you don’t see for months then go out and get really d*unk with as though you were best mates. No idea what you’d end up labelling that as once you added sex to the equation too.

agree with this everyone interpretation of a fwb is different .. to me a fb situation is pretty much the same as a fwb , casual sex with one person if repeated regularly the lines can get blurred .. when that happens as brutal as it sounds its time to cut and run if its one sided .. prolonging it because of sex is a recipe for disaster , jealousy can creep in .. been there done it and ended up with a jealous heidcase to contend with

Thankfully my friend and i are more respectful and totally get our situation now. I am more than happy for him to meet and play with others as he is with me. We do enjoy each others company even without the sex part and both are committed to the friendship. So all happy with us.

The longest fwb I had was for about 18 months. But unfortunately the texts, contact etc became less from them and lies creeped in. That’s when I knew it was over. It’s a very hard thing to find and gain that trust.

Pretty similar to most of the other comments here. Its possible but pretty rare to find.

I had one for about 2 years, suited each others life and we had amazing fun. Eventually feelings started to play a part and we decided to call it a day.

I’ve got fwb that I’ve known for 15 years I found it a lot easier back in the day to find genuine guys that wanted the same and was lucky enough to have 2/4 at any one time on the go but lately it’s really difficult to find one that lasts more than a few weeks, the grass is always greener until it’s not and nowadays I can’t be bothered listening to excuses

I think luck might play a big part in it all - both in the same place at the same time for a fwb.

It’s interesting seeing it from different viewpoints. One thing everyone agrees on is open communication which sounds so obvious but I’ve found some men still seem to struggle to say what they actually want which rips my knitting

I've had one then like a few have said above feelings became involved. She started to ask me if I wanted go exclusive / relationship, after a while I said yes. Then one day I turned up at her house and saw a bunch of guys clothes in the corner, so she wanted me to go exclusive but for her to continue playing the field

I think it's probably as hard as finding any relationship. Yeah there's no strings but you still need to find someone compatible.

I guess fab is a bit like a dating site, hundreds to choose from but finding the right one isn't the easiest.

Totally worth it when you do though.

Because attraction plays a big part. It's like those guys who always complain in their status updates that they're a 'nice guy' yet women don't want that. You can be the nicest person on the planet but if there's no attraction it's a no.

Personally, I don't think it's necessary to go looking for a FWB.

You meet, then you meet again, then again, then........and suddenly you've become friends.

Going out and spending the day together, maybe not always about sex. As another thread here, maybe sometimes it's just kissing and cuddling.

Having an FWB is special, to be recommended.

That isn't what I meant by the post .. attraction is important but its not just looks that are attractive .. I like a woman who is a nice person and if she's attractive that's a bonus .. I meant there must be 10 guys at least to every woman on here .. there must surely be a few that uve met that uve been attracted to .. lots of people are on this site for different reasons .. not just to get sweaty lol

Realistic sure. But the fwb means friends, and friendship. I've got one, met him back at the beginning of my fab life, we text most weeks about life, jobs, friends, clubs, meets, occasionally we'll have coffee and even more rarely we'll fuck.

I was seeing someone for a while, and our dynamic changed to just friendship, no issues. An actual friend, with occasional, benefits.

Most people say fwb, but actually they just want someone to fuck regularly, thats fun too but not the same thing imo.
