So with the opening of After Dark on Sat.

What club would you say is best and why? After Dark or Cjs?

I’ve never been to cjs but once attended after 8 which I thought was like stepping in to something from the 80s… I didn’t like it at all.

However, credit to the guys for making after dark look fantastic and listened to a lot of people on what they’ed want to have in a club.

Oh dear opening a can of worms here aren’t you.

I haven’t been to CJs and likely never will. As yet I haven’t been to After Dark. But I have been to After 8 as it were. It was ok. Sometimes it was good, sometimes it was quiet.

But on the whole I expect each club will have its pros and cons. And hopefully they will be as individual to each other as people are on here and in daily life.

Ha! Best for what? ask a hundred people to decide between two pubs, one in Glasgow and one in Edinburgh and you'll get multiple answers.

Cjs limits single guys, the AfterDark tends not too.

Both clubs are well run, with good people behind them.

The old After 8 was an old rented building and as such not much could be done, the new club is probably one of the best equipped and modern in the UK.

Again, what is it you want in a club?

the land of unicorns and fairytales

Everyone will have different views on the club a lot of it will depend on facilities, location, price, staff, people etc

I love Cjs and mostly that’s down to the people and I like the large social areas that are very separate from the play areas, I like the comfort of it, it’s only a half hour in the car so it’s easy enough for me to access and the prices are good, I don’t drink alcohol so it’s a very cheap night for me with the inclusive soft drinks and tea and coffee.

I really didn’t like the old after8 claustrophobic and I didn’t feel particularly safe with the open door policy and also wasn’t a fan of the forced dress down the nights I attended, the nights I did go however were after social events in the city so there were folk I knew there otherwise I wouldn’t have ever went a second time never mind a 3rd and 4th

I’m loving the pictures of the new place the open spaces appeal to me the hard picnic style seating areas not so much, the travel 90mins each way plus the entry plus the soft drinks plus the expense of a hotel is what puts me off it being a regular thing tbh it will be cheaper heading to Blackpool for the weekend, but I will defo be there sometime soon more likely when there’s a few folk I know heading over so I can share costs, or possibly the TG weekend as I’m going to be over there already might be cheaper to make a weekend of it

People have given you their opinion, one club isn't better than the other, it's completely down to preference, your expectation (to some degree) and what YOU look for in a club... both are large, well equipped and well run, so try both and you'll know what you prefer.

Most people have/will attend both depending on theme/night...

The only club I go to is cjs , I like the relaxed atmosphere and how at ease cj makes you feel , the idea of being made to or put under pressure to stoat about in your underwear or with a towel wrapped around you , well I can think of nothing worse , no one should be made to do something they don't want to do , although I haven't been to after dark nor when it was after eight but I have heard of multiple reviews from people I know that have all stated this is the case on dress down nights , I have however been to cjs and never been under pressure to do anything I don't want to , cj and her staff go out their way to make you feel welcome that's why I'll always return again and again x

I don't particularly like the lingerie night either, as I prefer to stay clothed in public areas, however, it's one night a month and the club is open 3 days a week, so if it's not your bag, avoid that night

I find this quite interesting. I've not been to a club yet, but have been reading up on a few of them within a few hours drive (so that includes some of the northern England clubs as well as CJs and AfterDark). I actually like the idea of the "dress down once you go upstairs" or "dress down after 10pm", sorta thing. I feel it'd take some of the pressure off / take some of the awkwardness away, cause everyone has their wobbly bits out? Some of the club's down south appear to have that rule every night. So if it's just one night a month at AfterDark that seems easy enough to avoid if it's not your thing. But also feel like that's maybe the night I'd opt for for my first trip.

Why hasn't the New club in ( Dundee been mentioned) just i noticed in this forum that it was have meant to have opened same wkend as Afterdark but havent heard any people reveiwing it or is it just a Hoax that there is a new 1 in Dundee.

Another thing why does the Scottish forum think they hold the right to post in said forum about pre social drinks, who's going to which Club when there is a club section for that.

I mind bk in the day over 7yrs ago people on the Scottish forum wanted a section on the site so they could post about drinks and going to a club , either CJ's, After 8, The Club ( Aberdeen) etc but i still see every day , every week, every year same thing .

Now i know this is going to piss people off and i Get it but thats what a fooking forum is about Expressing one's view

I'm a CJ's lady, always have been and always will be. I could say a few things about the old After 8 but that's all in the past now. Onwards and upwards x

So been following this post today that has grown arms and legs. The forum no matter what is somewhere that am individual can express their own views and if anyone wishe can join discussion with their own views.

My opinion in this post will no doubt not be liked by the majority on this forum page pr on this thread. But its my opinion.

Any clubs outwith central belt dont exist in the eyes of many. Aberdeen Club years agp when on the go hardly mentioned. Club Becchus(Dundee) now opened and not mentioned. After Dark just opened and CJs seem to be the only 2 clubs to figure on the Scotland Forum Site. There is more out there.

As for the continuous posts in Scotland forum about pre drinks etc i have no issue as such but think there should be sub heading for scottish Clubs to take the majority of these posts. Years ago members of fab in Scotland demanded Scotland have their own Sub Forum cause they felt they were getting lost in the general threads. So it was given. The same thing happening now all Scotland seems to be is about Clubs.

In this forum i am sorry but there is a "Clique". If anyone outside this "Clique" starts a thread tbeir is very little or no interaction and if there is the "clique" soon shut it down by comments to the OP of the post.

I have attended CJs and socials and the "Clique" is certainly in attendance.

There is far too much bitchiness on this Scotland Forum and i know i will be told where to go by so many of u here but this is my opinion on a Forum on a site i am a member of.

So i will leave this and lets hope its accepeted the way its written as my personal opinion.

Now await the fireworks x

Happy Fabbing one and all x
