Charisma

Ok, everyone's moaning recently about the crap shag/kiss/avoid and look at me threads recently so here's one to maybe get folk thinking.

I watched part 2 of a fascinating programme last night about the charisma that Adolf Hitler had.

Sounds strange for a man classed as the most evil in history but he had people eating out of his hands, even some of the countries he invaded early in the war welcomed the stormtroopers with open arms and flowers all down to his great message.

So, what makes a man like that, evil personified, still be able to sway millions of people to behave the way they did and does anyone think that in this day and age something like that could happen again?

I'm sure it could happen again, its not like the 20th century was an uncivilized cave dwelling time. When someone becomes famous or popular its in the psyche of some to assign greater weight & meaning to whatever they say. If someone sounded like they really mean what they say, give reasonably convincing arguments & whatnot they could be another hitler. Also herd mentality comes into it, they did tests where people went with the crowd & chose wrong answers to questions just to save face.

Btw, I know feck all about psychology & its many theories/theorists.

Thanks for your response, you could be right in the bit you say about the person in question meaning what they say. Apparently Hitler had an undying belief that what he thought was right and he avoided taking any advice on major issues because of this so when he spoke to people what he was saying was his personal beliefs in which he was unwavering.

Not charisma as such....more fear as if you stood against him, you and your family were assasinated by the brown coats

Yes but that was mainly later on in his megalomaniacal career, though, granted his thugs did meet out a lot of violence but there were so many people who had been interviewed over the years who genuinely adored him, didn't fear him.

Listen to some of the rabid republicans in the USA and you would think Barak Obama is evil incarnate.

Some greeks would possibly equate Angela Merkle as Adolfs bastard offspring.
