Not that kind of diseases you deviants.

Trees need to be cleared as there seems to be an outbreak of "phytophthora ramorum' which causes sudden oak death (SOD)

Not known to be harmful to humans or pets, but if you are walking your pups or partaking in other activities there is a chance of spreading the pathogen via footwear, bike tyres etc

so please try to prevent the sods spoiling the braes

A 1000 trees are to felled by the end of August. I hope they replace them at some point. What about the habitat and wildlife that live there? It’s a shame they have to remove the trees. I wouldn’t be surprised if it got sold off for development the way Renfrewshire council is going.

Funnily enough they did the same where I grew up and then low and behold the land behind the trees was sold of for a housing development with some of the best views out over the river Clyde now from a high viewpoint

Yes im actually as skeptical as ever regarding this kind of pish.. why has it so suddenly become a phenomena in recent years .. place diseases have been around for centuries but all of a sudden it's a particular problem right there .. same kind of thing is being done with old buildings .. bamboozle the council with science and lose economics so they have to hire consultants at exorbitant rates who of course all know each other via social functions and networking and look and behold its more money out of taxpayers coffers so that their developer pals get their permissions..

Apparently it’s a cull to stop the spread of the disease.

At present it’s felling trees which are still healthy and show no actual signs of infestation.

Think they will replace for environmental reasons Added bonus will eradicate the local tree rats ( grey squirrel) and maybe give our reds a chance to come back
