i think the status update lasts 48 hours and then resets itself blank.....could be wrong though

Unless someones reported what you have put in the status. I think it gets deleted and you get a warning to why

If you click on your status it will say......

Current status is a fun way to keep your profile fresh and interesting and keep people up to date on what you're doing or looking for right this minute! If you haven't updated your status in 2 days, we blank it so that it doesn't go stale.
