Just seen that the announcer for Hibs got sacked for teasing Hearts by playing "Taxman" by the Beatles, bit harsh i say.

As a nation we are so pc that you can not have a laugh incase you upset someone.

ps neither a Hibs or Hearts fan.

So true there isnt much you can joke about now.

Also find it hard to believe you can say Tally, Jock (or Sweaty sock) Sassenach, Chinky but if someone says Paki its racist I realy dont think thats any more racist than the the other descriptions.

Actually you can't say any of those things either without consequence in the workplace

You couldnt be racist against a Scot until we got our own parliament. Since then you can take legal action against anyone who discriminates against you. One of the good things about having our own parliament lol

I know the origin of the word Sassenach but for a long time its mainly applied to those south of the border.

It might be if it were true. Having our own parliament hasn't made us a different 'race'. We're still the same race as the rest of the UK, albeit a different nationality.

English, Welsh and Irish can't discriminate against the Scots racially 'cos we're the same race and other races are still in the same position they were before Holyrood opened its doors.

Sorry but you are wrong. Having our own parliament qualifies us under race relations. There have been many succesfull prosecutions. It is probably some legal position but its true

No doubt you'll be able to point to some of those 'many successful prosecutions'. A link to a newspaper article will suffice - no need for the whole COPFS reference.

kind of a grey area....some see it as racism and others as regionalism.....regardless, it is used in a derogative manner meaning it is wrong

Even my local Chinese take-away owner describes himself as a Chinky.

He's allowed to. I wouldn't.

today people scream for people to resign when a mistake is made, usually a senior person. I think it is sad but companies will react to public perception
