So let me tell you about my night. I was at CJs. I hoped to be put in a taxi at end of night but it wasn't happening, I was given a piece of paper with numbers on. Not impressed. Someone came into the kitchen and said I didn't seem happy, I said I would hope being a single female in a strange city I would be taken care of. She said I was being "rude".

I ended up wandering around the street in the dark, on my own. Eventually made it it onto the bridge and managed to get in touch with a taxi firm. Que me crying while the lady tells me she can't send a taxi to the bridge, I have to stop crying and get to the end of the bridge and give her a street name.

Make it over the bridge, call back, "we are too busy to take your call".

Keep going, reach a bakery, a guy calls out asking if I am OK. I say I am lost and need to get back to city center. He says that's ages away and wanders off, no help.

I keep going. I call my hotel, I say please could you get a cab to pick me up. He says oh sorry we can only book cabs from the hotel, not to the hotel.

I keep going. Eventually a random cab stops for me. I get back to my hotel 04:02am I left cj's around 2am.

I will never ever set foot in CJs again and I could never recommend another single women to do so, not unless they are sure of their transport.

Actually feeling lucky I made it back to my hotel in one piece, all be it 2 hours and many tears later

Totally agree this is shocking behaviour from the taxi firms refusing you help as as lone single female.

However I don't feel this is CJ's problem. You could have called a taxi to CJ's address in first instance. Problem solved..

Also you make a point of stating you are a "Single Female" do u think this scenario would be any different if it was a lone male trying to get a taxi. Do you feel being a lone Female you should get priority over a lone male in the same scenario?

Not condoning your treatment by taxi firms by the way. Just wondering what your thought process is?

As much as it was a scary situation for you as a single female myself you plan ahead for how you are getting home cause it is your own job imo to keep yourself safe even more so if you aren't from the area.

You wouldn't go to a normal nightclub and expect them to get you a taxi at the end of the night.

Its not cjs fault, sorry this happened to you but thats just a normal scenario anywhere nowadays. Why not call a taxi to the adress you were and stay put and wait? Why did you thinknyoud have been pit in a taxi st the end of the night? Its upto you to sort out your travel arrangements.. glad u got back though

I’m sure you were frightened being alone in a strange city at night , I would be the same but I don’t think it’s the clubs fault sorry. You should have pre arranged transport there and back if you weren’t sure of your surroundings.

Iv been caught short with taxis aswell at cjs but that was completely on me for not sorting it out sooner. Cjs gave me taxi numbers and let me wait for them for aslong as she could before everyone went home so my guessing is you were probably asked to leave as you were infact being rude since you felt entitled. It's your responsibility not the clubs.

I'm sure iv seen you on the forums slating kudos aswell (correct me if I'm wrong though)

How would others know? I certainly wouldn't know if others had a taxi booked or not. So perhaps she didn't make friends there and the majority and people disappear before closing iv found

She said she was sitting in the kitchen also. Iv been there lots and never once ventured into the kitchen so perhaps she was sitting alone and not chatting. Not sure, all speculation now

Taxis are a total nightmare just now. Not sure if half of all the drivers took on another job over pandemic and never got back to it, but it's really hard to get one at night. We got caught out once and ended up waiting outside CJs for ages. But at least we weren't by ourselves like you. While we were outside a member of staff did keep checking on us until we got away safely and I can't blame CJs for us having to wait for hours. We shouldn't have left it until closing time to call one.

Hope you're ok now and glad you eventually got back to your hotel safely x

Hopefully you feel a bit better today. Not sure of the whole circumstances ie why you left without chatting to people, how intoxicated you were but cjs is in an area that can feel scary for someone walking back into town because it’s industrial and quiet at night.

I know a lot of people have a weird emotional connection to cjs and can get quite teary over negativity towards it however think of it this way. Would you let a single female that doesn’t know the area leave your house to wander the streets she didn’t know? Cjs isn’t a normal nightclub so saying “you wouldn’t get a taxi phoned for you from ivory blacks” or whatever is irrelevant. If something happened to the girl last night and I was at the club, I would feel a sense of guilt. Emotions aside the negative press it would bring would be immense and people would stay away from it, impacting on everyone including cj.

If you have google maps on your phone you can’t really get lost though

- google Glasgow taxi firms and call one? Even do so ahead of tine and book a taxi for a specific time?

I'm glad you got back safe and sound, but would strongly suggest you plan ahead if you're going out - especially on your own.

I'm single too and this is exactly how I would understand things and agree with this lady. Forward planning for your own safety and peace of mind should never be assumed that others would do this for you.

I'm so sorry to hear of your distress. Glasgow is a scary place if you don't know it. Especially if you're lost and don't know where you're going. I don't understand though why you didn't call for a cab before you left the club. I hope you are ok OP x

Never been, never will go but personally think it would be my responsibility as an adult to make sure I did everything to get home safely. This includes not drinking if I know it's likely I will be travelling home alone so I have my wits about me at all times. When I'm in Glasgow at night I take the car to make sure of this. Had a day out in Edinburgh last year which then developed into a drinking sesh and I felt like a fucking tit when I woke up the next day having managed to get the bus home to Glasgow at midnight. That was entirely on me.

Having said that, doesn't sound like a nice experience getting back to your hotel, so glad to hear you're safe now

Like the OP I visited CJs for the first time since before lockdown recently. In the past the staff would happily phone for a taxi for you at the end of the night if you asked them, but as we also found out they only give out a phone no now and we struggled to get a taxi firm even to answer.

We thought we had got booked through a taxi firm app and as there were 3 of us together we waited outside. It never appeared though and we finally managed to flag down a taxi over an hour later. Our driver told us the app we had used was a waste of time as nobody ever comes so even googling doesn't always work

While I agree it isn't CJs job to get us a taxi at the end of the night I can see why the OP was distressed being alone in a strange city late at night struggling to get a taxi and she doesn't deserve some of the nasty comments.

For future visits we will know to either book a taxi in advance or take our car but if someone hasn't been before or not been for a long time they wouldn't know this.

I dont see any nasty comments, more common sense statements, common sense is making sure u have sorted travel home, the taxis are the same all over the country right now so am sure the op would know this.. its not everyone elses responsibility to make sure she got home ok. Im glad she did and hope in future she takes better precautions

Most taxi companies you can book a time for them to pick you up in advance if you think it will be busy at the time you plan on leaving at saves you sitting outside waiting for hours on end

It’s not cjs responsibility however we should all be looking out for each other and someone in distress, either female or male, should be offered help and the hand of friendship. I can’t imagine a day I would walk past someone needing help.

The post highlights the problems getting transport in Glasgow at the moment and hopefully helps other people plan before heading to cjs in the future.

It might also be an idea for cjs to put on their email that taxis can be difficult to get at that time of night and walking distance to town or something similar as not everyone is familiar with the Glasgow area or its transport networks

Every time I've been to CJ's the taxis to pick you up seem to be worse.

The last time I went (At Christmas) I think I had to wait 45 minutes on the one I'd ordered turning up. The other woman that waited had one pre-booked and mine turned up before hers. She was going to the same hotel as myself, so we ended up sharing it.

Given that they want more customers and the good reputation I think Uber is the better option to get back from CJs.

I had that once. I booked a taxi, waited ages, and called them again, they said it was on the way.

5 minutes later one turned up and when I gave my surname they said that they were there for me.

Just as I got to the hotel I got a call from the taxi firm saying that I hadn't been at the pickup point, and that by getting into another taxi I wasn't insured etc.

At the end of it though, they were both Central taxi's so they got a cut of the fare no matter what, and the other one probably got a pickup from CJ's for someone else.

It's not any club or pubs responsibility to put anyone into a taxi at the end of the night. I stay up until the wee hours at the weekend waiting until all my adult kids are home cause they have spent their taxi fare on another couple drinks so I sort out all their trips home. I always have this conversation with my lot. The staff at CJs would never knowingly allow a female to walk that distance alone at night, they would have let you wait in the kitchen after you called your taxi. If your saying you were put out then they would only have done so if you were aggressive but if it was me I would have stayed put outside the door until my taxi had turned up which can be upto an hour at the weekend but glad you got home safe x (D)

Of course they should have got you a taxi (unless you are some sort of regular nuisance). Some of the post from girls on here are ludicrous. The minute you went to the management and said you were nervous about being alone they should have treated you as a vulnerable person and helped you. What crap are people talking on here about other night clubs/venues not providing that service, of course they do. Its a sex club, no chance weirdo's hanging around there eh? Management should have seen it as a reputational risk if anything happened to you. How would that have looked for the? Girl refused help at a sex club and assaulted/raped on her way home. Good eh? To many CJ lovers on here defending the indefensible. And by the way, CJ's isn't half as good as it was in its previous venues and I doubt you would have been ignored back then.

In all honesty this sounds like a one off as there is a driver for cjs and single females get taken priority before couples and single males and there’s normally several regulars including myself who often take folk back to their hotels and further afield if folk are stuck

It’s almost a weekly occurrence for Kieran to end up having to drive someone home because they’re in such a state no taxis would have them, a few regulars often hang about to the end to make sure folk get away ok I wasn’t there laT night so can’t comment how many regulars with cars were there but dripping someone at a hotel in town isn’t a hassle for the majority of car drivers

now when you live in Greenock and take folk home to Bathgate !! Now that’s a whole different ball game but has happened

I was not there on Saturday but have spoken to all staff who were. Firstly I would like to point out that she was not asked to leave she was welcome to stay and wait in the kitchen as many do for a taxi to come. The staff gave her various taxi numbers to try help but she did not like this. She left at around 2.15am and others were still there until after 2.30am waiting on there taxis inside and outside the club.

I would also like to say that no one said she was d*unk so do not know where you are getting that from. Cj x

Not sure why you keep playing the single female card.

Your an adult , regardless of your sex your responsible for yourself and your own safety. Blaming cjs staff, blaming the guy who spoke and then walked off , blaming the hotel staff, blaming the cab firms , fuck me . Dry your eyes stop pushing the blame on others, stop playing the poor me single female card and take ownership of your piss poor planning of your night out. If this was a guy posting pretty much nobody would give a flying fuck about how terrible your night ended. Welcome to the new reality where everyone is treated equally. Take ownership FFS.

Glad you made it back safe and I have no doubt it must have been a horrible experience even if you had been drinking, however I have to agree with the majority here.

If you weren’t sure of your surroundings either wait where you are or if you are going to walk then utilise Google maps and it would guide you.

Every now and again we all need a bit of help in life but we also have a responsibility as adults to look after ourselves

Im self employed but the taxi firms can only take so many hires and if they are fully booked if the queen foned they cdnt pull a cab out of fresh air.

The girls that run the Aberdeen Socials know my number so would call me if someone was stuck but again not their responsibility to get folk home from socials. X

I know where u coming from but there is only so much we can do and iv actually taken a young girl home who was sick in my car. She did pay the fine but other drivers mite have thrown her out but as a mother i wdnt have lived with myself if something had happened to her. Her friends were lovely and helped clean it but iv had someone in the same position say its only a fkn taxi and hurled abuse at me and refuse to pay fine. Night in a cell it is then

Tbh it's not the greatest part of Glasgow to be wandering around in! I'm from near by I wouldn't walk around there early in the morning that's for sure. Least you got home safe. The taxi services in Glasgow went right downhill since the covid/restrictions and hasn't really bounced back.

We where at Cjs on Saturday night and also struggled getting a taxi.

The staff couldn't have been more helpful with 3 of them checking on us to make sure we got one.

After we got confirmation or taxi was book we spoke to another couple waiting who where heading in same direction and offered them to share which they did.

No one is responsible for your travel arrangements but you .. sorry if that seems blunt but its true . If you were at a nightclub /pub you wouldn't be put in a taxi at the end of the night but chucked out at shutting time .. being alone as a single female in a strange city can be daunting but that's the situation you put yourself in . You were handed taxi numbers call them and wait for one . I think its so unfair to try and taint others views of the club because of your experience of your own making .

Also not a fan of folk judging the club when they clearly haven't been themselves but taking others on their word and not their own . There's all manner of reasons fok could slate somewhere not all reasons are valid.

I have been many times and have enjoyed myself everytime I have been , staff are friendly and cj herself goes out the way to put folk at ease and can't do enough for you but that's my opinion make your own mind up rather than taking others at their word .

I agree with this comment, if you were given taxi numbers you call them yourself and arrange a pick up time and place for it to arrive. Most taxi companies call you when the taxi has arrived or is nearby.

Make it over the bridge, call back, "we are too busy to take your call".

Keep going, reach a bakery, a guy calls out asking if I am OK. I say I am lost and need to get back to city center. He says that's ages away and wanders off, no help.

I keep going. I call my hotel, I say please could you get a cab to pick me up. He says oh sorry we can only book cabs from the hotel, not to the hotel.

I keep going. Eventually a random cab stops for me. I get back to my hotel 04:02am I left cj's around 2am.

I will never ever set foot in CJs again and I could never recommend another single women to do so, not unless they are sure of their transport.

Actually feeling lucky I made it back to my hotel in one piece, all be it 2 hours and many tears later

Not sure why you keep playing the single female card.

PS Genuinely glad you made it back safe , next time though with the same lack of planning well that would be on you.

Let me get this right here we all visit places we have never been before in this life for example going on holiday a trip away for a day / week or weekend and perhaps travel with work.

You plan ahead and know your surroundings, also if scared or lost you stay in a place with lots of people phone a Joe Le Taxi and wait for it to arrive and pick you up.

Surely that is general common sense in this day and age.

We left and I would normally have offered her a lift but not after her behaviour. Like others, I’ve often offered lifts to those struggling to get a taxi.

Private hire taxis will only pick you up from an address and there’s not many Hackney’s around to flag down.

It was a great night at CJs but the experience of one person is all it takes to give a bad impression.

When we been to CJ's last month people ere waiting for taxi and the staff were helping at the closing time and standing with them outside. We been two consequetive nights. On first night we gave lift to another couple who were waiting for the taxi.

When we been to Blackpool two weeks back, heard a couple were making jt by walk to other side of the town, couldn't stop offer lift and dropped both of the couple to their desired location.

Even in aberdeen taxis are pretty sh***e. Had to walk to hospital AnE because of no taxis available.

I always attend cjs alone and several times the staff have allowed me to wait inside until the taxi has arrived and have constantly checked on me to make sure i am fine, also on a number of occasions I have had lifts home and taxi shared from people attending on the night and for that reason I always keep going as I've not once not felt safe being by myself

OK so I've only come back on here now after many months. In answer to comments yes, CJ is usually great at making sure folk get home okay, every time I had been there before she went above and beyond to get people sorted, which is why I was so blind-sided that night, but she wasn't there. And as said I should have called the numbers I was given, but in fact I did. they said they were taking no more bookings. As for the lady that says I over stepped the boundaries of acceptable behaviour with her friend, well he messaged me many times after with no accusation of inappropriate behaviour. So I guess she saw what she wanted to see. Just came on to delete my account really so everyone can take what they want to from it. The sense of community I once got from swinging is long gone. Call that entitlement if you will. Doesn't matter to me now. Happy swinging folks x
