Before you sign up with another network, get a free PAYG SIM card for your preferred option and put on the minimum, usually £10, and check it out.

Went to upgrade my O2 phone last week, sales guy did the coverage check for my area and was honest enough to say, "your area is bad, dont renew with us", was a very narrow area certainly, changed network, lots better.

I live in the middle of nowhere and i only get Vodafone signal here so had to settle for that. I had 02 and i had to walk 2miles before i managed to get a signal and as i dont have a house phone i wanted a network that i could rely on.

Same situation here. I'm with vodafone and it used to be okay - however, this past month or so, I find myself without a signal for long periods. Also, emails seem to be stored somewhere then they all arrive at once in the evening. What's this all about?

Work takes me to some isolated rural areas.

Phone signal in the ulu is amusing, especcially having just malkied a deer with the need for a new car front.

Get the area signal check done before comitting to a new contract.

Word on the street is that Vodofone are upgrading masts to 4G but are not ensuring continuity of existing network signals whilst work on going.

Orange is about one of the best. Id steer clearof o2 my signal went dead for at least a day and a half when they had a problem with their masts. Orange have just started the 4g thing and vodafone is planning it.

I'm with Vodafone but when my 12 month SIM only deal is up, I may well change.

I don't have any evidence but they seem to be spending more time and money in wheeling and dealing globally, than improving/investing in their UK network. I regularly spend time just a couple of miles outside of Banchory, which itself is less than 20 miles from the oil capital of Europe, and even the 2G signal is rubbish!!

Went window shopping - three offered me unlimited internet and more talk and txt and a cashback incentive if I switched - so on cost alone i'm tempted. Anyone on 3? Would welcome feedback.
