Central Borders

I'm trying!!! Only originals pop into my head...

One I did think off, but you probably never heard of them is Anouk and Sarah Bettens who cover I alone. They're well known in Netherlands, but not much beyond. Worth a listen though.

And K's Choice (lead singer also Sarah Bettens) do a great version of message to my girl x

Brilliant, a short Playlist to start with but loving it so far.

Another one I'd offer, 5laves -Shutdown

(proper band name prohibited in forum rules hence the number rather than the consonant)

Ooh ooh how about thin lizzy's dancing in the moonlight by smashing pumpkins. Takes me back to the unrequited love of my teenage years....wonder if she's on fab

Yeah, Nirvana's cover is an amazing point in time that unplugged gig. The lassie squiggle always rips the cunt out of my musical taste, you all may as well all dae it after I tell the cover that springs to mind here. A lot don't know that Chris Rea was the first to pen, 'fool if you think it is over', but the lovely Elkie Brooks version is actually better

I will get banned from this thread now that I have started lol. Creedence clearwater Revival (CCR) "I heard it through the grapevine" is a great rock version of the Gaye classic.

Badfinger who were a Beatles type band in the 70s wrote, 'without you'. Again Mariah Carey's version is better. Right I will stop lol

Yes I have seen that. I could not fucking believe what I was hearing or seeing. My jaw nearly hit the floor. There are really no fucking words to describe how good Marvin was. If America didn't have access to firearms he'd still be here today and who knows what else he would have came up with? We are worse off without him that is for sure.

That was what real R&B was, not the pseudo shite you hear now.

On a role now, anything that covers Dylan songs is always up for grabs. Hendrix's version of, 'all along the watchtower' is obviously the winner, that peeps think he wrote it lol.

Blowin' in the wind by The Byrds is the better version.

The stones version of, 'like a rolling stone' is a good attempt too.

Dylan, great songwriter, shite singer. Early on he was ok, still had the chops for songs, 'Hurricane' but shite now. Range was always poor, now completely gone, he be better off speaking the words.

"Chris Cornell doing nothing compares 2u is brilliant. "

The late Chris Cornell, arguably the best rocker singer ever, it seemed like he never sang a bum note. That is some statement from me because I love my great rock vocalists; Plant, Paul Rogers (free, bad company), A young Rod Stewart (The faces, Jeff Beck Group), Gillian (deep purple) also Coverdale (white snake and purple), The small faces lad, Stevie marriott what a fucking voice he had. Page wanted him first but couldn't get him, Plant stepped in. Joe cocker, but not really a rock singer although could blast a tune or two.

Still have Cornell than them, you could always rely on Cornell. May you rest in peace you diamond you. Audiosla ve, 'cochise' is going on now full blast, fuck the neighbours lol

You should check out Scary Pockets or Pomplamoose on YouTube.

Scary Pockets do some great covers and really make the song their own.

Maybe not all better than the originals but definitely different.

Pomplamoose do some really unique mash ups. I love this one of Sweet Dreams and Seven Nation Army. https://youtu.be/hmLBSCiEoas

"Johnny Cash - Hurt"

Absolute banger of a cover. In fact better than the original and I loved the original. You felt cash, 'lived the life' he was singing about. Probably one of the best covers of all time. Now there is a statement for you lol

Pete Townsend does a good cover of Save It For Later although I prefer the original. If you play guitar it’s a really nice song to play too. Bizarre tuning though.

Pearl Jam have an album of covers called Under The Covers. I saw it in HMV today and now kicking myself for not buying it.

Also Battle of Evermore by The Lovemongers is great. It’s on the sound track for the movie Singles (quintessential 90s viewing).
