"Don't blame the petrol stations it's the oil companies."

Really? So why are some so much higher than others if that is the case?

Some garages are owned by 1 person and others are a franchise, the franchise garages can buy petrol cheaper than someone that buys only 1000 litres a week. It also depends on geographical locations, competition, supermarket fuel or Shell there's no straight forward answer. Petrol stations only make pence out every litre they sell thats why the majority now have a shop and some even have washing machines.

But yes it's the oil companies that set the price.

The government could help cut the tax on it which in turn would help the fuel company sell cheaper fuel, Tory bastards scam minus agin whilst trying to make out we are the best recovering nation in Europe, they want to stop their pish and realise they are the issue

£1.51 unleaded at Costco, cheapest I've seen. You'd actually get your £20 odd membership fee back after a few full tanks

It would be super if the fiscal experts who frequent fab could explain with the millions spent on furlow, loans etc on top of the cost of running the county, social security, healthcare etc when they propose tax cuts what reduction on services the government should announce ?

Why not be radical. Let’s reduce fuel duty - good point. But let’s then help the coffers too.

Redesign the benefits system - you can only claim what you, or your direct family have paid in.

Introduce food vouchers; make it illegal for anyone in job seekers to drink, smoke or have satellite television.

Education. 2 free places per family, an heir and a spare.

Healthcare. Any disease or condition directly related to smoking, drinking or eating has to be paid for in full by the patient.

But it’s a great suggestion cut duty and taxes so we can get rid of these expensive benefits that aren’t all available in Europe and the rest of the world

Tony Blair and his “New Labour” cronies are as far removed from Socialism as it’s possible to get, a fact borne out by Margaret Thatchers admiration for him. Hence the reason why the Labour Party isn’t the force that it once was in Scotland…New Labour/Conservatives….two cheeks of the same arse!

Fuel prices is not something I look at tbh.

When I need fuel I fill up regardless.

Whereas my old dad would travel 20 miles down the road to get fuel that’s 10p cheaper!

I was there yesterday. £1.57 for unleaded. Usually get my milk and cereal there. Saves a fortune if you watch what you buy.

Was reading today that prices for crude peaked on Friday. As it drops the price on the forecourt should follow about 5-7 days later.

My journeys going to the car parks dogging is costing a fortune these days. Think it is having a big effect on other doggers especially as the car parks have been quiet recently

Tories are more to be pitied than scolded…..they’re stuck in the “good old days” of Thatcher Britain….you know when it was a case of “I’m alright Jack so get it right up ye!”

"So who has the highest price?

Surely your Asda must be the cheapest place to go to??? There's 20p a difference between Asda and the Watermill Shell garage in the Broch - and they're practically next to each other!!!!!

1.99. Diesel. Saltcoats three days ago ..

Incidentally cherry diesel is 1.30. Cheaper to fill a tractor with white at Asda and claim the vat back. Most tractors these days carry over a quarter ton of diesel. Cherry diesel comes from Russia to grangemouth and is very directly affected by the embargoes hence why it has gone up far more than white. Cherry was 79p 4 weeks ago. Nearly doubled. Food prices will sky rocket if red doesn't come back down to 80p levels.

I average around 15 miles to the gallon, if I'm careful I can get just over 20mpg and only use shell Vpower, I don't look at the price but it's my choice so I can't really complain.
