"We’ve chatted to a couple we know but haven’t seen in person for a few years and just wondering about taken the plunge haha x" Some people like to keep this side of their life totally separate which is fair enough. To my mind if you get on with them and everything’s ethical (I.e. there’s not a scorned spouse been kept out of the loop who is going to turn up at someone’s door) then there shouldn’t be any issue. I find ‘meets’ are better when there’s more than just an initial spark, so if you’re already friends/acquaintances then that should only improve things. As others have said, you’re both here for the same or similar reasons, so the embarrassment factor should be easy to get past. My other half and I have met up with people we already know outside of here (totally unconnected to here) and there’s never been an issue. It all comes down to communication and trust, I guess. For the trust part you should be able to gauge quite quickly what their approach to discretion is!

"These threads are quite common I've often thought has anyone read them and realised they're the one being spoken about" Not this thread, but the “Awkward Silence” and “Simply not big enough” threads for sure.
