Divorce lawyer in Glasgow?

Hi all,

Any recommendation for a divorce lawyer in Glasgow please? Google search comes up with a long list. Shall I just choose anyone or there is some advice on how to choose a suitable lawyer.

(It's regarding ending a relationship with no children involved, but need to sort some matrimonial assets)

CAB will probably know the good ones. You been in touch with them?

I'd suggest google some of them, but often only unhappy customers will leave a review and they'll all seem vultures and rotten at what they do

Cheapest option is if you can mutually agree how to share the assets, in which case a solicitor can do the work and provide advice. A lawyer would usually only be needed if there is a dispute about how to share the assets. If it ends up going to court because one party will not agree a settlement then a lot of the money will go on paying legal costs.

we are actually not married but living together for 12 years and having joint house, cars and bank details. If we both agree on finance without solicitor, can anyone of us come back on a later date and ask for more money?

You have one year to sort it. After that there is no comeback. I learned that the hard way.

Chose one who specialises in divorce they are clued up on pension rights etc. Yes may cost a few bob more but in the long term coud save you money. Mine did she even suggested to my then soon to be ex that I could claim maintenance from her as she earned more than me that soon ended the discussions!

If you have assets where one is say taking the mortgage on 100% then I’d get a solicitor. If you trust your partner then maybe you can do it without. Things can get messy in the blink of an eye! Been there!

Just had my divorce finalised last month. Defo settle financial matters yourself if amicable. If not it'll be much more expensive.

If you sign a clean break order then neither of you could come back to claim later on

Reposting due to typo(didnt realise i couldnt edit).

Not a solicitor but specialise in business law - another vote for Pacitti Jones.

However others here have already gave you some priceless advice- where possible pre agree as much as possible with your ex as this may reduce the solicitors workload and in turn save you some cash.

A friend of mine was in the same situation as you. The solicitors made each of them sign a declaration that effectively said that once the assets had been sold, neither party couldn’t make a future claim against the other. I can’t remember what the form was called, but I’m sure it was registered at the courts.

My mate went through the same thing a few years back.

They drew up their own agreement, signed it and sent it off to an Edinburgh law office.

It only cost something in the region of a hundred pounds.

The info will be on Google somewhere I'd imagine.
