I notice an increasing trend for people putting on their profile the warning quoted below. What's your view please? I always thought it's useless but looks like there is more and more people using the warning!

******

"WARNING:Any institutions or individuals using this site or any of its associated sites for studies or projects, You DO NOT have permission to use any of my profile or pictures in any form or forum both current and future. These photographs are NOT for sharing or downloading.

If you have or do, it will be considered a violation of my privacy and will be subject to legal ramifications.

Any photographs sent via message on this site, are for your eyes only and should not be shared or uploaded anywhere. Legal ramifications apply as above"

A sign that the person behind the post isn't for me, and that's about as much use as that warning is!

Shangri-la

I always find it particularly amusing when the warning/disclaimer is the only thing on a profile.

Copy & paste messages like that have been added to profiles for years! All totally pointless.

It's funny to think some people actually think writing a warning will protect them in the slightest! If you don't want exposed don't take the pics or write your name!!!

Doesn't bother me to be honest. Folk maybe following a trend rather than thinking for themselves. I'd rather read that than a list of demands on a profile and several references to being "professional". Leaves me with the impression they've disappeared up their own arse.

To me, it's a bit like someone who shares scare stories on social media without doing any due diligence. Just makes them look daft in my opinion.

It’s a demonstration of peoples ignorance of the law but if it lets them think they are safer good luck to them

When I see the word ‘professional’ on someone’s profile I start to wonder if it’s code for they’re charging for something…

It's utter nonsense, though at least some have the sense to change it to the right site name when they copy and paste. Many still spout similar nonsense about "...Facebook is a publicly traded entity blah blah blah..." - though it makes even less sense changing it to Fab, and proves the person either hasn't read or doesn't understand what they've copied and pasted.

None of it has any legal standing anyway, the site's T&Cs that you agree to when joining, plus copyright etc when it comes to images, are what count if anyone were to instigate "legal ramifications". Agreeing to the site's T&Cs then posting that doesn't change what you've agreed to. And anyone who was going to steal images will do so anyway regardless of how many meaningless warnings anyone might write.

Sheep following sheep in my opinion, it serves no purpose other than telling me the person that owns the profile are as thick as shit. Just my honest opinion.

It's actuslly in the FAB t+c that it has no worth and to please not add it to your profile as it takes up needed server space that could be used for something else.

Mate its class, love a good warning sign!

Every time I read the same post on numerous profiles makes me think of the studies i see about Fab and what possible data could be gained from profiles… I’ve added it twice for double the protection.

Its even better when people dont add a single word on their description and just copy and paste it as a gap filler, it is like kryptonite to the institutions or individuals that try and penetrate fab with their studies, they just melt away like the wicked witches of the west
