With NS announcement today that if you can WFH, then you must WFH till mid January at the earliest.

Do you think Christmas travel cross border will be cancelled again this year.

100s will have plans to visit family, I know we have and the thought of not seeing loved ones at Xmas socks.

No. If there is a lockdown (big if) then they'll wait till January. It's a much easier sell.

We don't live in a country where you can compel the population by force. Authorities need to get the majority on board willingly. They are well aware that they would be fighting a losing battle during Christmas.

For better or worse, frustration and pandemic fatigue have infected a large section of the population. A lot of people would be simply unwilling to give up Christmas. They'd rather roll the dice and live for the moment.

I imagine there will be a lot of noise in the media about 'taking precautions' and 'staying safe' between now and the 25th. Nothing more till Jan.

No I don’t see cross border travel being restricted like it was last year.

I think the WFH is being suggested as people will be going out socialising since it’s Christmas and if people can WFH then it will allow for a more “normal” festive season whilst reducing the chances of spreading the virus.

I think if they do lockdown through xmas they will run a severe risk of being booted out after this term, this isn’t a political statement for anyone that may think it is

Can't see another lockdown. The increased numbers to isolate around the positive case might help with the spread.

I'm lucky that I'm wfh so it doesn't really affect me too much. Will still be having Christmas.

Agreed, tbh I’m a SNP voter and put my second vote to the greens. If they lock us down over a slight mutation, il not vote for her again. It’s too much, the country needs to move on from this pish one day. Everyone’s jabbed, done what we were told so it’s time.

The thing is, although there have been a significant number of the Omicron virus, there's been no hospitalisations, and it's been established that the bulk of cases have been in the under 40s.

So if that continues, how can they 'punish' the older population? And quite frankly, although there's still plonkers walking about the streets, and driving their cars, wearing face masks, the bulk of the population are going about their lives pretty much as normal.

And what's next, the European variant, the American variant.......?? And when will they realise that basically the vaccinations are working, with no hospitalisations yet of this latest variant.

The same could have been said when the 1st and 2nd lockdowns were happening, the majority of the deaths/hospitals admissions were above a certain age yet other age groups were ‘punished’

My sister and her husband are due to come over from Northern Ireland on the 23rd for four days. If any travel restrictions are put in place, they won't be here. Fingers crossed you get your holiday! X

We might not be in lockdown but some work places have already stopped Christmas parties ,lunches & nights out because the bosses are saying its unfair for branches to have Christmas days/nights out when English branches can't have one

Another Xmas lockdown would be to much for the public to take in my opinion. NS is what is known as a canny wee lassie and will not risk losing the support of the voters. Just my opinion but I definitely don't see another xmas lockdown.

It can be viewed in many ways in that Westminster have refused to provide extra finances to allow the SNP to lock down again.

Or as someone has already said sturgeon doesn't want to risk losing even her core supporters.

Or possibly they don't have enough evidence yet to show the new variant is as virile and as dangerous as they first thought.

My hope is theyve realised that lock downs only delay the inevitable and the virus cannot be stopped.

I live in hope that it will either run its course and die out or possibly become less dangerous. But we must remember the flu virus kills approximately 20 thousand people a year in the UK so we will always have deaths.

Another lockdown is highly unlikely as previous lockdowns have had financial support from the U.K gov and unless they are going to finance one then it isn’t going to happen.

Could we see restrictions on hospitality operating hours and services provided (such as the daft alcohol rules) probably but again who would finance these restrictions? Could we see tough restrictions on international travel possibly but again who is going to support airlines, airports and the employees that work in that industry (non Scottish airlines will just move everything south)

Working from home and asking people to defer Christmas nights are the only 2 options that the Scottish government have that won’t cause widespread outrage and don’t cost the tax payers, IF after Christmas Westminster say here’s a pot of money let’s do a 4 nations approach then any measure brought in here will be minimal.

Let’s get on with it stay safe follow guidelines and let’s not worry about something that might not happen.

Looks likely my Christmas lunch will be cancelled. Some people were going to the office but that has now been stopped unless it’s essential.

It’s a difficult situation. The latest variant is more contagious but symptoms are less severe. Even with vaccinations I don’t think this year will be any better than last year. The hospitality industry is already seeing cancellations. Many won’t survive a winter like last year.

Not seeing another Christmas lockdown, however I am seeing all the parties and Christmas lunches I had in diary being binned off, just today another bit the dust…, so that’s another glum year as good as a lockdown when everyone’s cancelling planned events..

In my job wfh is not an option. Being in sales field I have to go see clients so I have to gobout and see people. Triple jag, face covering, lft done fingers crossed we dobt have restrictions but thankfully next week to work then off till 5 jan

Any Lockdown decision is a Political Decision. No GP's, Surgeons, Doctors or NHS is asking for this measure. The measure is direcxted by Conservative Government appointees, spin doctors, behavioural psychologists and maths profilers. They model human behaviour - not viruses.

A spin doctor cannot control a virus any more than preventing me seeing my family can. However, many people have been convinced that having a Lockdown is "doing something". There we go.

they are the same vaccinations that we got the first and second time, with manufacturer changes for some. So I am assuming the effectiveness of the booster is due to how recently we have had them. If that is the case the first wave of people who got the booster 2-3 months ago when they started will or may require another booster very soon?
