Are you a superstar wingman who will take one for the team.

If your fwend is on a promise but misses there train to Llanfairpwll-gwyngyllgogerychwyrndrob will you say I got you buddy, hop on your car and drive like a mofo to get them to the meet on time

The fact you realise that you need to do something about this is a starting point.

Don't let it get you down.

There are many ways to achieve friendships. The most obvious is joining clubs that you have interests in.

Books, gym, random hobbies,

Take course in a subject your interested in. You'll meet others on a regular basis.

Sexually there are groups,socials, pub munch, clubs, events you can put your name down for.

Be sane, sober and you'll get into conversations and make friendships over time.

You are not alone...

Bumble has a 'bff' section purely for platonic friendship. You should give that a try.

It is harder to make friends the older you get for a variety of reasons. A big help will be putting yourself back into situations where you're encountering lots of new people in an enclosed environment e.g evening classes.

You could also try Glasgow meet up that organised events for people to attend to make friends. They also do online events which may be an easier way to start off

Good on you op.

But please remember friendship is a two way street. And your maybe better off being comfortable with your own company than having to force a friendship. I’ve found my friend circle has decreased dramatically since I stopped being the first one to make contact. And realised that if someone doesn’t want to be in my life then that’s their choice and as far as I’m concerned their loss.

This is true I've lost friends I've known for yrs and found a few new ones that I know better over the yrs.
