"My other half has inside knowledge of the police with stories to make your hair curl. I genuinely think attitudes towards females from males had improved ( ex forces so I know how bad they used to be ) but social media and availability of mysoganistic / “step sister” “family”porn trends seems to me to be making things worse. I also feel we all have the right to identify as whatever we want but until men treat women as equals and not lesser beings the right to identify as a table leg or lampshade should go on the back burner. It’s genuinely a small minority that fuck it up for “man”kind " With you 100% on the lampshade & table leg point! Virtue signalling is an easy way to score points whilst actually doing fuck all to address any problems. Not just the police who are guilty of this though.

"ACAB That’s it, sorry but they are accountable to no one… Violence against women has to stop and it’s men’s fault BUT it’s a political thing now, an argument at home (shouting at each other.. who hasn’t done that) is grounds for arrest. But on the streets they couldn’t care less. I reported to an “officer” something during the Zombie walk in Glasgow (Orange Order) of a woman being pushed and verbally abused, “fuck off” was the retort… "

"I'm in no way trying to undermine what happened to Sarah Everard.. it is apphorant and should never have been allowed to happen given all the red flags there was and nothing done whatsoever .. like in every profession and walk of life there are sadistic animals in places of power ... what I do have a problem with is that every man being demeaned and categorised as a sexual predator ! " I don't think every man is being portrayed in that way and I'd argue with anyone who did suggest this. What I've read and seen is reminding men of their responsibility to call out questionable behaviour, even if that means having uncomfortable conversations with their best mates or family members.

"Read an article this morning confirming that 26 Met colleagues of Wayne Couzens have committed sex crimes in the past 5 years. Wtf is going on? I've only ever had positive experiences with the police and we do hear more bad news stories than good as those make front page news. Not in anyway trying to be dismissive of what happened to Sarah Everard with that statement btw. " No, any more than our trust of politicians, doctors, nurses, teachers, social workers, TV presenters etc has. Every section of society has it's rotten apples at even the highest levels. Thankfully they're a small minority and not a reason to lose trust in the vast majority. What purpose would losing trust in entire professions serve other than inducing widescale paranoia?

" What I've seen in the media for me sways it in the way of suggesting all men would be seen as predators whilst walking behind a woman .. suggesting they change their route or cross over the road to avoid it .. most men are good decent folk and suggesting they change their route suggests that they would be placing a woman in alarm and fear by their mere presence .. I get something has to change but just feel like once again most men are grouped together by the actions of a few.

Agreed I’m aware of many different professions where professionals do not meet the standards set yet keep their jobs or are given promoted posts in headquarters to get them out of the way so it’s not just in the police this happens. These professionals impact on children’s education and development, people’s health and welfare and society in general are impacted through their inadequacy. Also in these professions there are ones who aren’t just inadequate but evil however this isn’t fully recognised until it’s too late unfortunately.

"Suppose it’s the same as any job, you get good and bad chefs, good and bad car salesmen etc etc. I believe the majority of police officers are decent and try to do the best they can under difficult circumstances, conditions and with the new political establishment in Scotland using it as a pawn in the independence debate. However there is no excuse for what happened in London but we can’t judge all the same, we wouldn’t judged in that way. And all the negative comments on here ACAB etc. Bet they wouldn’t be shy phoning the police if they needed help. Double standards I would suggest Just an opinion and as valid as any other in a country that used to promote free speech F "

They took statement over the phone. Watch you tube videos of guys walking around in public filming buildings, perfectly legal activities and 4 police cars turn up and investigate for ages. Only to end in false arrests and compensation money being paid to innocent person that was falsley arrested. To many on the beat out on power trips nowadays, snowflakes with zero common sense.

"I (cream)lost faith in the police due to personal incident, long story short while off duty in his police uniform tried to stir up trouble at my work for me due to a personal issue between himself and me. When i turned up at police station to find out why he was in my work they had no record of any such incident they investigated his boss covered for him he cleared him but on appeal an independent board had no idea why he was cleared with all the evidence that was there eventually found guilty of breach data protection, harassment and breach of protocols i have since found out he is no longer a police officer. But fact he got away with what he did at first and his boss covered for him took 1 1/2 to sort out! Makes you wonder how many times other officer have done wrong but had it covered up." here is a perfect example of them closing ranks to protect and keep on doing so until some poor individual gets serious hurt or in this girl case killed

"Registered" means not struck off so likely still practicing. Between 2007 and 2012 (couln't find more up to date figures) 56 doctors were cautioned or convicted of sexual offences, 22 of them have been struck off, 26 are still practicing (as of 2012. The remainder were still under investigation at the time). Im not trying to displace blame, the met has a problem, Couzens deserves to rot then die without seeing the light of day again. My point is the issue is within men, especially men with power. Societal values need to change. And to anyone saying ACAB or scum etc, dont forget who did their job and gathered the evidence to get that vile individual a full life sentance.

"The media are making much of the sexual offences stat but fail to delve deeper into what they were. Technically under Scottish law Urinating in Public can get you put on the Sex Offenders Register as there are several levels of offenders listed. So how many of these cops sexual offences were what the public would call a sex offence and how many werent?" Probably the vast majority since a cop wouldn't get done for unrinating in public.

"To answer the OP and his original question, I have not had much confidence in the Police force for many years. The biggest issue is they are now run as some sort of a business and only pay lip service to being about serving the public. Too many of the force are joining for all the wrong reasons and many are very cynical about how they go about their business and be successful in it. Underfunding is only really a lesser issue, the main one being the direction they have moved in and how they appear to provide the services they do. The same issues are relevant in many of the services provided by our governments. " It stopped being a police force years ago and became a Police Service. That’s when the “job” became well and truly “fucked”.

I was indicating that the term “sex offence” covers several levels of offence and the media aren’t interested in finding out how many were serious offences and how many weren’t. And Cops do get charged with Urinating in Public, usually when d*unk and off duty. But it’s now dealt with by Fixed Penalty ticket and doesn’t hit court unless it’s not paid.

"Active Policing to suppress crime stopped around the late 70's and early 80's. Since then it is simply a matter of giving you a crime number for your insurance claim. Since then *The patrolling of city streets to prevent Crime and disorder and re-assure the public has been stopped. It no longer happens. * Traffic control and Parking are no longer Policing issues. These are civil penalties handed out by Local Council Traffic Enforcers. Not Police. *Police Officers now sit in offices or drive around in cars waiting for things to happen. Once you haver been robbed, stabbed, s****lly assaulted or murdered - The Police cannot undo it. *Small responsive local (county) forces were merged into massive unweildly, unworkeable massive bureaucratic forces. *As the Police were removed from actually fighting preventing crime they became increasingly politicised. You are more likely now to get a knock on your door from a Facebook post than from sitting getting d*unk in a town centre and punching an old lady. True. *Police forces now have over 50,000 clerical staff doing their admin - freeing up officers to do... what exactly? Monitor Facebook and Newspaper Forum posts? Yup. *The powers of the individual Police Officer is hugely increased and they walk around looking like armoured paramilitaries. Where people used to look at Police Officersw with respect and admiration people now look in some fear and rightful trtepidation ("What is he gonna do with that pepper spray and telescopic club?"). Police Officers no longer protect the public or patrol to prevent crime. People need to realise that stopped a LONG time ago. They hand out crime numbers for you to claim on yoiur insurance. That's it. If you are lucky that is. One Psycopathic Police Officer on 3 March 2021 managed to convince a young woman that Covid Powers allowed him to handcuff her and put her in the back of his car. Britain needs a new Police Force." Where are you getting your statistics from?

Britain needs a new Police Force." Agreed, Manchester piccadilly gardens, stabbings occurring on a weekly basis, overridden with drugs, the police don't give 2 shites. There's 4 murders a month in Salford, When are the Police going to do something about it! never! This is never on the news. But we'll get out priorities right and worry about BLM or when social media and Facebook is down.

"Police scotland are scum! So who do you call when you need urgent help in a crisis?? The police rarely want to know, they don't seem to give a monkeys toss about much these days. protesters gluing themselves to roads, refusing to move for emergency services, crime rates have soared elsewhere. Manchester included. If you ring them in a crisis they will call if your lucky in a day or 2. Unless your either a different colour or ethnic good luck That's not really true though. As for the different colour or ethnic part, that is bullshit. " Yup, I was wondering if Police call rooms do FaceTime. So much bitter uneducated bullshit on this thread. Shoulder chips aplenty

Britain needs a new Police Force. Where are you getting your statistics from? " The only statistic I quote is that of admin staff. There are currently around 54,000 administrative staff in the England & Wales Police Force. That is from the gov.uk police assetts pdf (data file 955182) for 2020. Add in Scotland and Northern Ireland admin staff and it will take it to around 63,000.

"The Police have been the go to institution for years if you need to say what you want without reply... The press have hounded them like no other job. A nurse has just been charged with 8 murders and 9 attempts but are the press suggesting you run from nurses, that they should not work alone, you don't go to a hospital and we sack the head nurse... Why are the police told to take ethnic minorities when no other job is. Imagine a pilot on the coms saying.."Sorry, I don't know how to land as I was employed for diversity".. It should always be the best person for the job. Have the police lost their way.. yes. Senior officers are political and bow to government will. They are not there to favour women, LGBGT, Ethnic minorities or a one legged parrot. They are there to treat everyone the same so.. stop your kneeling, get rid of the multi coloured laces, don't be afraid of stop and search and do what you are best at... protecting the public. Ignore the press and they inflate everything to make a headline, regardless of the damage it does to our way of life. I for one support our police and are proud of them. Best in the world." agreed totally, apart from the best in the world

"Never had any trust in them tbh " Oh the irony of your profile name. So you don’t trust the police, but are happy to be on here like some want to be gangster using a username of a criminal responsibile for the murder of some 4000 people. Not to mention his other crimes. . People are entitled to their opinion about not trusting the police etc. But this ACAB stuff is just utter nonesense. As someone said above, the majority of people with this opinion will likely have been on the wrong side of the law and don’t like the fact they’ve been caught. Police have an exceptionally difficult job. However the media and politicians are setting the narrative which is making it even more so. It should also be said that policing in England is much different to that in Scotland.

"I recently watched an episode of 24 Hours in Police Custody whereby 3 women were assaulted by a man posing as an Amazon delivery driver. As distressing and terrifying as it was, I haven't rushed out to arrange a PO Box and refuse to take deliveries in here. I've acknowledged that there's those who will disgrace their profession in every role, but I refuse to live my life in fear or mistrust of every person. I work in a profession where I am instantly judged on the failings of others before me, my profession has a "bad rep" and I've been accused of all kinds because of it. It's demoralising, the stereotypes and fear are a barrier to many who would benefit greatly from our input, much like the genuine police officers just trying to do their jobs. I haven't lost trust in a profession as a whole, I'll continue to judge each situation and person as a separate entity, not on the behaviour of others. " I take it your a carer or a nurse
