Winks: what do you think?

Hello,

I prefer to throw a wink the way of people I'm interested in, rather than message (without much success, I should add).

I figure people get lots of messages from men, and rather than add to the pile of unread mail I think it's better to just send a wink and let them respond in which ever way they see fit.

When I do feel brave enough to message I'm always worried I get the tone/content wrong; winking just seems easier (or lazier, let's be honest).

What is the general feeling on winks? Do you prefer direct contact?

A wink from a well written profile with a selection of photos is welcome, if I like I wink back and would then assume they would send a message.

It's the winks from blank profiles that I find lazy and get ignored. If you have nothing to attract me on your profile then use a message. If you can't even do that I'm not interested!

Nothing wrong with winks. It’s an easy ice breaker and allows the winker (no sniggering at the back) to make initial contact. Think of it is the initial eye contact in a real life meeting. The person winked at can then either wink back or ignore.

Between Edinburgh and Scottish Borders

We are using winks to let other know that we like the profile. If someone winks us back we follow with a message. Whe we we receive a wink and we like the profile we would wink back and then the message would be nice.

Nothing wrong with winks but I rarely respond to them.

With regards to being scared to message and being worried about your tone, etc, they'll either reply or not. You shouldn't over think it.

Whilst there are some gorgeous folk on here, I would never put them on a pedestal worry over what they thought of my message. This place is supposed to be a distraction from the serious stuff mind!

I usually forget all about winks until I see posts about them on the forums.

Send a few when I like someone as an ice breaker but never really get many in return but I will keep sending to people I like

I like to send winks as an indication I am interested unless they state they don’t respond to winks . I understand some will respond others won’t . I do enjoy receiving winks and if I like I will reciprocate the wink followed by a message . Shy winkers never won fair maiden or couple

I don't normally bother with winks, if I'm interested I'll usually message directly. I don't mind receiving them, only thing I don't get is if a profile winks me, I wink back and they don't follow up with a message. If I'm not busy I'll occasionally send a thanks for the wink type thing, but most of the time for me nothing comes of them. Although I'm not the most social on here at the moment so maybe others like the feature.

I tend to bulk delete my winks. I rarely wink back. I much prefer a well worded message with a face picture attached. Far better chance of a reply.

I would probably wink at someone if they winked back I’d message. Seems more relaxed intro than a cringey possibly misdirected first message.

Some of the best conversations have come from winks over the years. Just a pity they sometimes go unnoticed.
