"Truthfully, If me and my partners haven't having sex for whatever reason (busy, stress etc) We find other ways of spending Time with each. My husband and my partner are big gamers so I'll spend time doing that ,or day trips etc. We share intimacy in other ways " That's a fair point.

"To be honest I could live without sex. I get enough comfort and affection from my dogs to keep me content." I do get alot of comfort from other things too, it's just.... After a while you do wonder!

"I think a lack of intimacy in our close relationships does have a detrimental effect on mental health. Too many confuse intimacy with sex though." This, also agree with the previous mention of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs too. The confusion between intimacy and sex seems to be more on the male side which I do believe isn’t always intentional and more tied with our natural instincts to mate. Look at spooning for example, I met a girl from here (in a roundabout way) on Friday evening. Woke up beside her on Saturday morning and we got closer into the spoon for quite some time. Intimacy. That was then kinda spoiled by my wully which had began to get hard and prod her bumcheeks entirely out of my control… Intimacy into sex Yes we can have sex without intimacy but, for me anyway, it’s shite. Both combined makes for attentive sex which, for me, isn’t shite. Intimacy alone can help people feel safe, wanted, loved, secure etc and without that in our lives I’d say that yes, it would have a detrimental effect on our mental health.

I can have intimacy without sex. Sex without intimacy just doesn't work for me though.

"Do you think a reduction in sex and physical contact with others has a negative impact on your mental health? Feeling wanted, the one to one communication, overall intimacy?" Did you nor have a partner during lockdown?
